be nice!
Yeah, it's a job...but it's one that allows people to intrude on my personal time at home. If I want to buy a service, I will call you. Not the other way around. (Not speaking directly to you, long red, but rather the companies that employ these practices.)0 -

and you'd be surprised how many morons buy this junk.
my, my is that how you sell your productsso do you go "Hello is this Mr. Moron, how are you today sir?"
i would really love to one day hear my dad talk with those people because he doesn't understand English very well, so it would be hilarious to hear him extend the conversation for hours and then to just say no.
but the little kid idea is genius!0 -

oh its great when the other person doesnt speak english. i'm very upfront about it..."Do you speak English?" I hang up if there is any pause or stutter. Next call.Jam out with your clam out.0 -
however mad i may be at those people i must say i've never swore at them, and always said no i'm not interested, but when i do say i always cut them and then don't wait for them to say bye
there was once where i was in a really shitty mood and i just put the phone down on a guy and then he called me again, so as soon as i picked up the phone i cut him off again0 -

Them: "Do you know what time it is? We're eating! How dare you bother me at home! I'm helping little Timmy with his homework you fucking jerk!"
Me: "Okay well you have yourself a great night, bye bye."Jam out with your clam out.0 -

You could make a fortune in real estate on Long Island with your skills!! When I first got into the business I took a class which relied heavily on cold calling people to see if they wanted to sell their house. I fucking hated it, definitely not my comfort level. But, I must admit it worked, well. This was on LI."The leads are weak!"
"The leads are weak? Fuckin' leads are weak? You're Weak! I've Been in this business 15 years"
"What's your name?"
"FUCK YOU! THAT"S MY NAME!"0 -

That's what I do but everyone comes off worse. I always say the wrong thing. I'm polite but after 10 minutes of someone talking at me, I then say no, I'm not interested. Sales people must hate me! HAHAHA.0 -

after a long night of dealing with jerks, i'm usually in a pretty rotten mood. but that only lasts as long as my drive home. once i'm not there, u could tell me that i'm a telemarketer, and i'd be like, "what?"
i'm only thinking about it now because i have to leave for work in about 20 minutes.Jam out with your clam out.0 -

i see. i worked with this telesales woman once, and even slight little thing used to piss her off about people on the other line, she used to always moan to me about them, she was too stressed, and kept dissappearing to the toilet for a long timedon't know why, my friends told me she was getting rid of her tension
i personally would not do this job even if the offer is good, it'll be like going against my morals0 -

i think so too, a well deserved one!0 -
I was a telemarketer for about a week and a half. I desperately needed extra money and the pay was good. I was one of those people that claims you "were selected" for free plane tickets. THen you have to go take a tour and hopefully buy time share.
Anyway, the job was hell. I sucked at it. More than once I would call and an old man would answer the phone-
me- "hello this is Lindsay, is Jane there?"
man- "who is this?"
me- "I'm calling from InnSeason resorts, I have some great news!.. based on Jane's entry form we selected her for free plane tickets!"
man- "..she passed 3 months ago"
I think I almost cried, I felt so bad. I quit that job very fast.0 -

I say hello once wait a couple second then hang up. I suppose the they figure the easy targets will say hello a few times, because whenever I have, some stooge comes on if I say hello a bunch of times.
I tried telemarketing thing back in highschool for an hour and ended up just calling my friends, then told them to stick it.
I've had some people get the nerve to call me after 9pm. I also think they run automated dialers to scavenge legit tel #'s
A wasted life form I think. If you want to sell, go do retail or something actual instead of intruding on peoples personal lives, or work at a call center as a support tech for something, or selling pizza's
That's my take.Progress is not made by everyone joining some new fad,
and reveling in it's loyalty. It's made by forming coalitions
over specific principles, goals, and policies.
