I'm really upset that it didn't die in this spot. I have a huge patch of stubble there. that's the specific area I went in for! and no I'm suffering from this absolutely horrible, horrible break out that makes me want to wear a ski mask every day for nothing!

no that's the problem!
I can't use all over the counter stuff (trust me, I spent all of high school and college trying every product they made). it destroys your skin, that's why I get the laser.
well I look pretty hideous right now- a big patch of stubble and HUGE nasty zits covering the entire bottom half of my face...my usually beauty treatments are turning against me.0 -

You should try Intense Pulse Light IPL.My friend has polycystic ovarian syndrome and one of the awful effects are excessive hair. She has been getting 6 weekly sessions of IPL.The difference is amazing,no skin reactions or burning and she says although the treatments a bit nippy its bareable and she can wash, wear makeup etc right away.It has really helped her confidence. Its very expensive, probably comparable to laser but has much better results.
What do you look like GTD?I read a lot of members being really complementary to you but you seem so down on yourself?“There should be a place where only the things you want to happen, happen”0 -

I think I used to get something similar to IPL but they stopped using it and switched to laser a few years back...the laser works in general, but it seems to miss this one spot and it drives me nuts! The bad reaction I had from it wasn't from the laser, it was from the pre-laser shave combined with the lotion.
I'm down on myself because I've gained 40-45 lbs, grown facial hair, and have a face full of bright red pussy pimples!0 -
I got a goatee its weird cause sometimes it looks cool, and other times it looks weird on me.0

well, I never really stopped working out....I work out 5 times a week now, I just can't work out as intensely as I used to because of all the extra weight (it makes it very hard!)
As for the fruits and veggies...I'm a vegetarian, so I think I've got that covered.

Vegetarian and you work out five days a week? Something is wrong then. Its obvious you are burning more calories then you are consuming right?
Are you getting up a good sweat?
Since you started to work out, how much have you lost?Get em a Body Bag Yeeeeeaaaaa!

um, I started working out 10 years ago and never really stopped. I can't say anything about "since I started working out."
As for sweating, I work out as hard as I can. As I said, it's just that with extra weight it makes everything harder. For example, my favorite distance to run is 7-8 miles. I've always run this distance when I go for outdoor runs. But the difference is like 40 lbs ago I could run it at 8-8.5 min/mile pace, while now I'm running it at like 10, even 10.5. hills are a lot harder, and I can't do my cross training work out anymore. Now I just do a very basic cardio/strength training routine.
I gained weight because my life changed, different foods were eaten at different times, work outs were compromised, medicine was screwed up, and the boyfriend...I don't lose weight unless I almost starve myself, so once I put it on, it's not coming off unless I go back to almost starving, and I can't seem to do that at the moment. You have to understand that before I gained weight I was just unbelievably careful about everything and then when I had to be a little less careful, weight went on. I can gain 10 lbs in like a day. I'm not kidding. I just have a really messed up body. working out isn't going to make me lose any weight, because I always work out. it's like my starting point.0 -

beans can do the same thing...
and if you eat a lot of fruit, there is a lot of sugars that convert into energy in fruit, so fast into energy that often a workout will just use the fruit energy up and not work off the stored fat.
here is a good trick. drink nothing but water. nothing else at all - (even unsweetened drinks)
eat only 2 servings of fruit a day ( 1/2 an apple is a serving, you know) and load up on the veggies...limit the starch-veggies, and the grains. and try to make sure that your protein is up. try that for a while, and as you exercise, you might see a difference, good luckIF YOU WANT A PLATE OF MY BEEF SWELLINGTON, YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE TO PAY THE COVERCHARGE.0 -

failedpersephone wrote:that might be the prob, actually - fiber in fresh veggies/fruit can impede weight loss. Also, we veggies tend to eat more starch to "fill" when we dont get the right amount of protein. one last thing, be sure that you are really getting the amount of veggies you need- corn and potatoes shouldn't "Count" since the first is a grain, and the second (while it is a veggie) is a lot of starch...both can cuase weight gain if they are primary foods in your diet.

oh no I just became veggie six months ago- I had already put on all the weight.
I don't eat that much fruit at all really. most days I have none, or I have a pear.
I only drink water and chamomile tea most days. I drink at least a gallon of water every day.
and um...fiber is good for you.
I get plenty of protein, I'm a tofu and egg white junkie.
and oh god, I would never eat corn and potatoes on a regular basis! do I look like I was born yesterday??? The glycemic index is not news! (I love how people think everyone who has gained some weight has no concept of basic nutrition)0 -
