I need a vacation,want somewhere tropical,any suggestions?

Ive been in a really bad funk the past few weeks and tonight got the idea to go on a little getaway. But I dont know where yet, I was just bored and surfing the net and ended up on an airlines website and checked their deals and saw I could do florida for $200 roundtrip and that got me thinking of this whole vacation idea.

Ive been looking around at the little package deals on expedia.com and looks like I can get a few days in bermuda or somewhere for maybe a grand or so.

But then I started thinking that I heard some of these islands are not so tourist friendly when you leave the resort. SO I was just looking for any opinions on what tropical spots you have been to and liked i.e. St. thomas, bermuda, peurta rico etc... Id like somewhere where I can leave the resort and wander around freely and find cool things/places.

    I enjoyed the bahamas...not much further than florida:) (didn't wander much in bahamas though the way the resort was set up it felt like u could....http://www.ourlucaya.com)
    I also enjoyed st. thomas...though I recommend St.john over St. thomas...just liked the town better, though st. thomas had better night life
    if u wanna go a little further the water in Aruba was perfect! you can walk around everywhere and the food is great!!
    If u wanna go even furhter...Hawaii is my personal fav:) :)

    well not really in your neck of the woods, however towards Australia is a beautiful place called Vanuatu, the people are the friendliest you could ever meet, the sand is the whitest most soft and beautiful you will ever find and the water is a real clear crystal blue looking, stunning place! there are lots of little islands around it too my favourite was "mystery Island" gorgeous place!

    probably too far than what you would be looking at, however well worth the trip!

    actually you could also come to Australia since you would be so close, we are a huge island! and a beautiful one at that

    you're welcome! really worth the trip over, from wherever anyone comes from! I went there when i was on a cruise, it was magical there and Noumea that was really interesting too, a French speaking Island all the way over this side of the world!
