    who?
World Chess Champion. the only american to be one, and he won during the cold war against the ever-dominant russians.

There's a brilliant song by a not very well known musician that urges kids to do something with their lives like "you could play a game of chess/a game of chess with the greats like/ Bobby Fischer or Kasparov, who played a computer/ called Deep Blue, called Deep blue/ and he won 4-2"

It's brilliant. I might listen in respect. Except chess is so uninteresting...
"I remember one night at Muzdalifa with nothing but the sky overhead, I lay awake amid sleeping Muslim brothers and I learned that pilgrims from every land — every colour, and class, and rank; high officials and the beggar alike — all snored in the same language"

I'm sure it's very interesting if you are a player, and even interesting as a game. It's just not interesting at all as an outsider.
