    why not?
    seriously?
that is how you get to know people, try em out...then move on to 'exclusivity.' i know i never really did date more than 1 guy at a time for long. it doesn't take long to figure your preference. i remember my mother used to always say she didn't understand why people dated exclusively from the get go, that it made no sense. in her day, you dated LOTs of people, then narrowed it down...and eventually, hopefully, moved to the exclusive phase with someone. granted, she grew up in an era of premarital sex at least being frowned upon....but none the less. even today, i think it Is doable in the early stages...and nothing wrong with it, as long as you are upfront and honest about it. then again, i don't see much wrong with lots of things as long as you are upfront, honest...and all is agreeable.
It's a matter of opinion. Sure when I was younger, I've cheated, but never tried to see two at the one time. I always felt like shit after cheating and wondered how they put up with me. I think it would be very very disrespectful if some guy asked me could we see other people. Why call it going out then? I've nothing wrong with it if both people are acceptable of it... but I couldn't go out with somebody who could ask that of me, I'd be disgusted.

agreed. If you date just one person, how are you gonna know if theres others out there? I think alot of people use the "oh i KNOW he/she is the one" way too soon. Sure there are qualities in one that others don't have but still. It is always best to keep your options open and not 'settle down' right away. SOME of the people that have done that are now unhappy or getting divorced!
When you've been around as long as I have.. you know exactly what the others are like ;) ok, fair enough, not ALL of them... but enough to know when I'm on to a good thing. I know pretty early on if it's worth making an effort or not! And it's not about settling down straight away... but just seeing where it goes if I let this person into my life.

but there is nothing wrong with casual dating, which to me is what 'dating' really is.....up until you meet someone worthwhile.
I agree with this completely... I think dating's fun... and how do you know exactly what you want til you try it all. Just, IMO, more than one at the same time can get confusing. I like to keep things simple.

But I didn't date 2+ guys at once either. They're completely different things ;) . The beginning of this thread gave me the assumption that people are talking about having relationships with 2 different people at the same time. I, personally, could never ever do that. I would never suggest someone settle for the first guy either... but there's nothing wrong with giving him a chance and I don't see how you can do that with the added confusion of another guy

Thank Waffle, you didn't decide on DiseasedRiddenWhore or something... although Hooker isn't much better.

I support your name changing endeavor. C'mon Mods, give the Hooker a break...
