People who insult grammar on a message board

I point out bad grammar...except from one girl i know. She thinks she knows EVERYTHING. She has a masters in english but she fucks up words/grammar all the time. Last week she told me that "scotch is a REQUIRED taste". Hrmm, is it?
I want her, in all her infinite knowledge to look like an idiot so i'll never correct her.

"I remember one night at Muzdalifa with nothing but the sky overhead, I lay awake amid sleeping Muslim brothers and I learned that pilgrims from every land — every colour, and class, and rank; high officials and the beggar alike — all snored in the same language"0 -

Listen, no one is advocating that people should post like they have been sniffing glue and/or paint. However, it is a rock band's message board, not a "Post your thesis about your hatred for corporations and your love for non-profits and grocery co-ops!" forum.
Generally, we're talking about rock and roll and the lifestyles of folks who like it.
Therefore, pointing out sporadic incorrect expressions of its/it's/its' there/their, verb tense, and the placement of quotation marks, etc, is ridiculous.Do you remember Rock & Roll Radio?0 -

To me, knowing the difference between they're/there/their is as simple as 5x3. It's something we all learned in grade school and we use those words on a daily basis so i don't get how people forget the proper usage.<a href="http://www.last.fm/user/Krisdababe/?chartstyle=Krisdababe"><img src="http://imagegen.last.fm/Krisdababe/recenttracks/Krisdababe.gif" border="0" /></a>

I hate it when English speaking people put others down about their grammar. ESPECIALLY on msg boards .
I know the basics of 6 languages and can speak 4 of them, of which three fluently. So who cares about some spelling mistakes, it is communication that matters!!
And on a msg board like this it is great to be able to meet people with all kinds of nationalities and backgrounds.
I actually believe that the level of English on this board may scare some people off.
I definitely wish I was able to express myself better in English on this board (even though I believe my English is already quite well).
I always ask people who do not appreciate me speaking their language to try and speak some Dutch...that shuts them up!
I dont mind writing in English, but please have some respect for people whose mothertongue isnt english!

edit: damn a typo...!Why not be mediocre and be the best at it that you can be?0 -

See my above post...not all are English speaking by nature. Many on this board aren't.Why not be mediocre and be the best at it that you can be?0 -

I totally understand your point. My beef is with the people whose first language is english.<a href="http://www.last.fm/user/Krisdababe/?chartstyle=Krisdababe"><img src="http://imagegen.last.fm/Krisdababe/recenttracks/Krisdababe.gif" border="0" /></a>

It is simple. But again, some folks type out quick posts in between phone calls, etc, at work. And whoops, maybe a typo gets out. Message boards are more of a conversation anyway, with a lot of fragments instead of full sentences.
People are taking this shit way too seriously.
So, who here attends writers workshops?Do you remember Rock & Roll Radio?0 -
