What were your teen years like?

Mine were pretty tame. Started drinking at 17, stopped by 19. Smoked some cannabis, then didn't anymore. Mostly, got kicks out of doing stupid shit at school. Y'know: goose-stepping as part of a Nazi invasion of French class, during school-wide France Day.Smokey Robinson constantly looks like he's trying to act natural after being accused of farting.0

my family moved to florida at the end of my 8th grade to a town about 30 minutes north of gainesville...in the middle of nowhere! so, i was pretty resentful and angry...and hated almost everyone in town. damn rednecks

i just kept to myself at home. locking myself in my room for hours just listening to music while i did homework. i had nothing better to do than get good grades so that i could get into college and get the hell out of that town. i was on the dance team and played tennis, so i wasn't a total loner. but, i wasn't really popular. i would spend too much time making out with my boyfriend in parked cars around town...that was fun
i just learned not to cause any problems...unlike my sister who was a crazy person growing up.
i didn't come out of my shell until i went off to college at 17. i haven't been the same person since...and i feel i'm better off for it! so much fun!!yes...i do feel like a human. i do not feel like a tree.0 -
My mom was a stay at home Mom.Dad was an undertaker/lived in funeral home for a while.Got picked up by my Dad at school constantly .If it was the hearse the body was in a casket. If it was the station wagon the body was in a bag on a stretcher. This went on from 1970-1982 till I graduated.Go figure I'm a Deadhead.otherwise not bad.The bus came by and I got on!!!!!0

hmmmmmmm...my teen years were awesome!

i was a very *bad* kid in that i did, well, just about everything...:p hahaha. but what fun!
however, i was pretty much a straight A student, never skipped out of school, well except for typing class. and i did get detention a LOT for smoking. yikes.
i didn't have to sneak out to stay out late, i was the last child....and yes, pretty damn good at convincing my parents to let me do what i wanted to do. sure, there were a couple times tho, eh well. bottomline, even with all the shite i did...i was a very responsible teen, so it was all good. i think my mother would have a storke if she knew all the things i did, hell me and my sisters did..... however, she doesn't...we have a great relationship.....i am a fairly responsible/togther adult...so no regrets.
it was FUN!!!
:cool:Stay with me...

Drug fuelled mostly acid, weed and alcohol with some amphetamines, valium and E thrown in for measure, the later drugs I didn't start taking till later though, 16 when I first started taking phet and 18 for E.
Met lots of cool people, had lots of crazy experiences. Can not be arsed with life no more.0 -
I went to a really snotty high school, I was very close with my parents, I didn't drink or smoke, but I snuck around with boyfriends. I worked full time from 3-11pm after school and was always tried. Went to my first PJ concert at 16.0

pretty tame. I was interested in 2 things: rock music and getting into a top college. I was a total "good kid." You kinda had to be at my school though, because if you weren't a "good kid" you were a really bad kid, and for whatever reason, your future was shot. My parents still got mad at me though, I don't think they realized how good they had it. I got in trouble for things like not studying hard enough for AP calculus or not calling when I was going to be late. I have to say though, I went to A TON of rock shows in high school, way more in a concentrated time than I have since.0

My teenage years were rather tame. I had a great relationship with my parents, got along with my sister, made excellent grades, and never got into any trouble. Socially, I was a bit of an outcast and not very popular. Never went out and partied because the few friends I did have weren't into that type of thing. I worked a lot to save up some money and found some refuge in music, mainly the "grunge" bands.
When I went off to college, some of that changed. I had more friends because the things that most people cared about in high school didn't seem to apply any more. I partied a lot when I was 18/19 and started to drink and smoke weed.0 -
home life was great. HS taught me how much smarter than most people I am and that people generally suck."If you're not living on the edge you're taking up too much room."

I spent the last two years of highschool as a social outcast. My family moved from hip ski town Sun Valley to what felt like (at the time) conservative hicksville, Boise, Idaho. Also, within a month at my new school I got in a fight with the captain of the football team. It was during P.E. and we were playing floor hockey. He checked a Vietnamese exchange student (half his size) into the wall, so I immediately ran over and did the same thing to him. He threw down his hockey stick and tried to shove me. Never drop your weapon in a fight. I started beating him with my hockey stick. The gym teacher jumped on me to make me stop.
After that nobody talked to me, but nobody ever fucked with me either...

That story rocks. It reminds me of "The Breakfast Club".eyedclaar wrote:I spent the last two years of highschool as a social outcast. uneventful. i barely ever went to school and was pretty much asleep when i was there. Had high enough ACT scores to get out though. but once college started i partied hard to make up for my anti-social past and promptly flunked out.0

I varied between 2 extremes...started off really shy...only focusing on school...not going out much...then at 17 I started drinking, sneaking into clubs underage, etc...socializing became more of my priority. I missed 35 days of school my senior year cause I would stay out all night...but graduated with straight A's...I guess I realized I could have fun and still do well in school. There's a light when my baby's in my arms

depression, isolation, loneliness, fear - those are the words that pretty much sum up my teenage life....ofcourse as i hit my late teens things started changing slowly.
one of the things i've learned from my teen years is that there is nothing in life that will make me want to commit suicide ( unless if i was to get locked like that poor Austrian girl ), because i've found a reason to live. i also know now that i won't try do die gracefully, i will do whatever i want whatever my age is.0 -

awkward, fun, too short, funny, stupid, waste of time, exciting, painful, annoying, educational, joyous, eye-opening, frightful, hurtful, wonderful, free, lonely, happy, etc.
When I look back on being a teen I remember that every day was different. One day was the greatest day where everyone was fun, friendly and such. Then the next day was a kick in the ass. Some days I felt like the biggest dork and nerd while the next day felt like I was on top of the world. I have some incredibly happy rememberances and some sad and depressing memories. All in all I think it was pretty normal as I think all teens go through the same emotional twists and turns. On some levels there is nothing better than being 14-18 while on other levels there is nothing worse than being 14-18.0
