16th November AET London meetup: my gig as the excuse

Okay, it's £5.00 on the fakkin' door, I cannae help that, but The Space Arts Centre is a fookin' exquisite venue for an AET London meetup. I'll be playing, as will a band called The Green River Rock Band (no relation), and some other acts.

We all vaguely discussed meeting up before, but this new meetup suggestion is advantageous in that:

a) it's on a Friday night, when a lot of people can get out;

b) I think I'm going on fairly early after 8.00pm, so people can negotiate transport home/babysitters/beer;

c) we've more time to sort things out;

d) you get to see me makin' a racket.

So, scratchin' a letter, redrock, chime, genie, harmless little fook and all other Laaaaaahndoners: shall we go for it?

I'll show you photos of the venue. Very nice it is, too:

  • well I'd love to go BUT :o think I've a pretty reasonable excuse unfortunately
    The Astoria??? Orgazmic!
    Verona??? it's all surmountable
    Dublin 23.08.06 "The beauty of Ireland, right there!"
    Wembley? We all believe!
    Copenhagen?? your light made us stars
    Chicago 07? And love
    What a different life
    Had I not found this love with you
  • Just looking at this now. I'd love to go, just finding out whether I can.

    Geography is bad. Where is it compared to Waterloo?

    I'd love to but you forgot excuse 'e'.

    e, My boyfriend would throw a mental hippie fit if I said I wanted to meet some of the people on here and I've got no money.

    What a shame for me, I haven't been to a gig for a long time.

    yeah, but your boyfriend is not your dad, tell him you're as free as a bird, and going to do whatever you want. Plus so what if you meet people of this pit, i personally know that i'm a good, sane girl, can't say for the rest of you though ;):D:p

    as for money, i'm sure you can get in for free, if you say these words "i'm with the band"

    :)

    It's not gonna happen. I hope the rest of you go and have a good time, though. :)

    Bearing in mind wheelchair access, harmless little f***, I think you want the Jubilee line from Waterloo to Canary Wharf. Then you change, finding the DLR line terminating at Lewisham (southbound). Mudchute is the second stop from Canary Wharf, and that's where you get off. It might be worthwhile double checking that trains/lines are operating.

    Thanks, that's very helpful. :) I will see whether I can make it and let you know.

    mmm..Docklands (or wherever exactly the place is..can't download the required plugins to see the map at work) is not handy from my neck of the woods, and I'm already doing 2 gigs that week (Cold War Kids and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club :D), so not the best week..

    sorry

    tell him i'll look after you... you can earn some money from me by doing stuff... unprintable stuff
    oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

    ...I don't think that would work.

    Since when have you worried about typing unprintable stuff?

    Sorry. What I meant to say was 'How dare you'! :eek:

    Are any of these shows of yours getting archived on video? It'd be cool to see it on YouTube for those of us that for obvious reasons can't be there.

    I'll see if I can get a couple of people to record it on phone cam. If I'm getting a soundboard recording, I'll sync the sound to the images, afterwards.

    Bumpus maximus:

    The picture here has been fooked aboot, but the sound is live: that's what I do with a delay pedal and a twelve-string, and with a proper vocal mic it sounds groovier.

    At least ya know which one I'll be. :)

    WOW! Wow! I REALLY genuinely loved that... and not because I'm drunk! :D

    Occasionally you love a song the second you hear it.

    Thanks for the video. :) That really was good! Have you made any demo's? Do you write your own lyrics, etc?

    Kelly :)

    Thanks!

    The answer to your questions are, yep. :Dhttp://www.myspace.com/finsburytunes

    Now, could you persuade your bf to come along? :D

    The AET meetup is what I want. The gig's just an excuse. :)

    It really would be great. The AET meetup isn't an excuse. I just want to see you play but it won't happen.

    My partner and I don't have the same taste in music and I can't drive. I've got a young baby so...

    What a shame.

    Thanks for the link.

    Maybe one day we can all meet...

    Well, I'm lining up a few London gigs anyway, into February next year so far, so there will always be a good excuse to meet up. The Space is just a bit nicer than your average hole in the wall. :)

    Edit: Just booked a venue in Yorkshire for the end of June, so maybe we'll catch a few northerners at a later date. ;)
  • bump for this thread!

    I can't make it as you know but going by his links, I think more people from here should go!
