It's the June issue. It's been out in Aussie for about 3 weeks but It only just came out here.

Also about Vector the ad in RS for the INXS tour says they are playing Vector. So INXS has confidence it will be finsihed and they are playing in September.
  • Oh yeah I also got my 10C version of Pearl Jam. How many people in NZ have got that??? It's very cool. I'm giving away my store bought version.

Cool! When did it arrive? I got mine sent to work, so hopefully it will be there on Monday, along with my hoodie! $130 hoodie, I must be crazy! I don't even wear hoodies!

I'll be saving my store bought for the car or for parties, so my 10C one doesn't get ruined ;)

How do you know they will be playing at the Logan Cambell Centre?
Its doesnt seem right... My guess is that they are going to try and get Ericson again? But!!! i could be wrong?

What about the other possibilities.??? Keeping in mind i know they like seated concerts.. but also keep in mind that the SA tour was GA..

    Choices of venues...
Ericson Stadium, Western Springs Stadium, Logan Cambell Cntr, St James Theater, Vector Arena.... Are there any others???

Or... they could play at the Howick & Pakuranga Cricket club... LOL ... theyve got a nice bowl behind the club (Athletics track) im sure you could generate a stage setting there!!! LOL

Im also down with that, as thats my club. Nice work Joe! I could even stay home and hear it from there. I reckon it would look real nice down there. Can get free piss at the bar too.
I reckon if Vector wasnt ready (better fuckin be) then Ericsson (not Supertop) would be alright. November there wont be stuff on there, and it went okay last time by all accounts

Ok here is the latest I know (you can either chose to believe me, or not, I dont mind either way, but I was first to write about the vector story)

Understand one thing, I am in the construction industry. I have no direct associations with the vector project, but I can say this - and I talk to people who do know.

Vector has problems, and they are not just about getting the arena ready. There are commercial issues at play here too, which may delay handover - remember getting the venue ready is one thing - the contractors will only hand it over when paid.

Now the delays have caused a problem. The price of steal has skyrocketed since the project was tendered. Now, and I am not sure of this, but nobody hedged the steal price. And with the delays, there is a major dispute over the steal price. I know the figures, but I cant share those details. At this point, nobody is budging.

The project is New Zealands wembly. Will it be ready on time? It better be!

And purely a personal opinion, it will be vector or nothing. 2003 proved that. They wont play ericson (which is hosting U2 on Nov 24/25), nor the supertop.

No disrespect to you... but think about it... i think its possible that they could play at Ericson, ( i would hope they didnt play at supertop )...
Look at it though... If U2 were playing ericson on the 24/25 Nov, that means that the field will be availible for concerts... who know's you might even get a suprise and get Bono to join the boys onstage (hey it happend in Toronto last year... never say never..)

I think the more important thing he have to look at here is who is going to promote the show??? So far i havent heard much about this... or if coppell are going to ?

Before we can assume a venue.. lest try and assume a promoter...

No promotor = No show..... Once they have a promotor then the promotor can worry about the venue...

Also other options are.. Auckland town hall or Auckland Civic Theater.. (both highly unlikely)

Lets also talk about how many people would attend the show...
Now i know last time they came to Auckland we had a staggering 25,000 at ericson.
Suppose there was only going to be a show in Auckland.... that would surely increase if not be the same amount of people at the show... Also you would have the Auzzies and other countries get in too... after all it would be a memorable concert first time since '98, surely there will be some rare tunes played...

    Anyhow

Play with that... i'll step back and watch for a while?

Coppel replied to my email - basically if they play NZ, coppel will promote it.

I see your logic, really i do. But again, in my opinion 2003 showed that they dont want to do ericcson. Lets face it, why do bands skip NZ? venues! Pearl Jam did it, Radiohead, coldplay, NIN, whoever.

They wont play the civic and they wont play the townhall. North Shore Events Centre is an outside chance.

I dont know why they just dont do what the stones did, and play Western Springs (seated).

Joey, buddy, I wish you were right, I hope you are right, I just dont think you are. But I still think there is a 80% chance Vector will happen - might ring a few contacts - if you want the specific details PM me.....

NSEC is a no go. It only holds 4000-ish I think, not to mention the whole resource consent thing. I don't think we'll be seeing many (any?) more concerts at NSEC.
I agree, Western Springs would be great and I think they could sell it out, maybe not to the extent of the Stones, but there were maybe a few too many GA tickets sold to that (if you listen to the old-timers). Fully seated @ ~$100 is a sell out for sure.
If you hear anything specific, shoot me a PM, I'm interested. I might ask around a few people I know too...

    nah nah,

its been all over the web - check out http://www.u2newzooland.com - go to the forums there...

I have huge problems with these dates, as they are my wedding - have been in touch with radio stations who have basically confirmed them as being true - my problems are these: half the bridal party have tickets to the show which clashes with the wedding

I'll PM you now, and there were too many people at the stones......but again they had the option in 2003 and didnt use it - why would they this time?

Didn't look like too many from where I was, just a poorly organised crowd, blame that on the lax security. Anyway, PJ wouldn't sell that many tickets anyway. How many were seated at the Stones, and how many in GA, anyone know?

Pearl Jam woudnt sell that many tickets?
    My friend you are mistaken...
I think they could get 20,000 easily...

We were discussing PJ at Western Springs. PJ wouldn't sell as many tickets as the Stones did there. They had around 50,000 didn't they?
BTW, I agree with you, they could get 20,000 easy. More like 30,000 I reckon (or is that wishful thinking?)
