Deep topic for a Friday night. Let the fun begin....I'm trying to drink away the part of the day I cannot sleep away...0 -
I seriously cannot imagine you'll get much in the way of responses to this tish. Talking about abortion, particularly if you have had one is still a massive taboo in most of the world.NOPE!!!

social taboos aside, it's pretty personal. I don't think if you have had one it's something you want to rehash for fun on a friday night.0 -

Well there's that too. Personally I have no problem with people discussing it if they want to, and I believe that it should be at least as acceptable for people to discuss as miscarriage, unfortunately that's not that easy for folk either. Of course those are just my views, I'm well aware of what happens when people do discuss it. It makes me sad to think that humans have not been able to elevate their communication skills and that these things are still taboo.NOPE!!!

My dad and his ex girlfriend he got her pregnant and she had one. It was her choice and apparently they were using birth control my dad felt really guilty about it, but it was for the best. My dad and her broke up and he's almost 60, and his other two kids are grown, so it just woulda been hard...I'm not mad. I don't lke abortion but I don't think the government should have that type of right over a woman. I've always felt that it was the law for women.
Everytime I hear the word abortion, I think of the sex pistols song bodies. and what George Carlin said.

Amusing annecdote time...
Perliminary info: My uni's union is right opposite a Catholic Chaplency.
During Pro-Choice week the union decided to put up a massive printed banner with "PRO-CHOICE" on it.
Next day the Catholic Chaplency decided to stick up a hand made "PRO-LIFE" posters (not looking nearly as stylish obviously).
Then a few days later the Chaplency blatently thought that maybe they were being a bit harsh so added on a bit so it said "PRO-LIFE: IS A CHOICE TOO".
Come end of Pro-Choice week the union took down their banner.
Next day the chaplency kept up the "PRO-LIFE" bit but took down the amendments.
Moral of the story: Pro-Life is only a choice for 1 week of the year.

When I was younger I would tell my friends to "get an abortion" whenever their wives got pregnant. Looking back, I wonder why they still talk to me.0

neither do I.
I'm quite happy being an auntie and have never once had the maternal urge. The only time I was pregnant was on purpose when I was married. I thought I wanted to be but the moment it was a reality, I knew I didn't want it. I could say a few other things about how I truly felt at the time (other than a total outcast because of my feelings) but eh...it was 10 years ago, I've made my peace with those feelings and am a much better person because of it. For the record, I miscarried. And while I wouldn't wish it on any woman who truly wants babies, for numerous reasons, it was a blessing for me. For that, I have no regrets saying.
I've happily taken birth control pills for 20+ years and the only time I got pregnant was when I was off them and trying on purpose. I use other protection as well for different reasons of course but if the birth control failed at this point, I would be making my way to the nearest family planning center with no regrets.believe it or not, we don't "need" anything. that is only the spoiled brat in us trying to fill some temporary solution to an emptyness that does not exist.

Wonder why many people support abortions so adamantly, but are usually ashamed to talk about them if they had one.The only people we should try to get even with...
...are those who've helped us.
Right 'round the corner could be bigger than ourselves.0 -

It's got nothing to do with shame and everything to do with judgemental tossers that speak off the cuff with all kinds of ridiculous comments.
So if you wonder why, I suggest a quick trip to the mirror. It will answer all your questions.NOPE!!!

I think it's because there are many out there who adamantly don't support it. It's a woman's choice so why throw it in the faces of people you're not sure will support you? For the majority, it's an emotional decision as it is...filled with numerous "what if" questions. The last thing anyone needs is some self righteous right winger calling them a murderer.
Additionally, this society still makes women feel "dirty" if they have sex with anyone but their husband or long term significant other. Society has the impression that a woman who gets an abortion * must * have got pregnant out of wed-lock or is a total whore who has one night stands. Me personally? If you're not one of my closest friends or a member of my family, I don't care what you may think of me. But I also wouldn't tell you something so personal as getting an abortion (although, technically I did tell you in a previous post since I did have the procedure done after my miscarriage....it's the same procedure they do in early term abortions)...since it's not any of your business.believe it or not, we don't "need" anything. that is only the spoiled brat in us trying to fill some temporary solution to an emptyness that does not exist.
