    From Wickipedia:

Bruce Lee would eat ground beef and shit out live cows.

The character Neo from the Matrix is based on Bruce Lee, except for the "being gay" part.

Bruce Lee once peed on R. Kelly.

Bruce Lee is only only man to defeat Chuck Norris on camera...that actually is a true story.

The whole idea of JKD is when the opposing guy makes a move, you'd have looked at all the faults in that movement, to cut off this movement, however insignificant, with a speedy strike at the weakest point.

For someone a bit slower, it'd be hard to pull off. But Lee has extreme speed compared with extreme precision and strike power. He'd eat all these guys for breakfast and clean up the dishes and finish reading the morning paper before you could crack open an egg.
very nicely put...sounds like a quote of one of my Lee books. But yea Lee was too quick at anticipating his opponents move
Speed dominates strength any day. You could be 180 fighting against like a 300lb musclehead Bouncer type at a club and if you take out his knee, cripple him to the ground and blast him lets say in the nose or in his throat...its a wrap..just dont get caught or wind up grappled and even then you can still get out of it if you know your shit! :D

I dont think they would be able to get him to the ground. The guy was the fucking man. He would simply punch or kick them in the face when they attacked and kill them. They would probably have to tie one hand behind his back and blindfold him to make it fair.

I am only half kidding. He was blazing fast and his reactions to an opponents moves were cat like.

The only person who ever beat him in competition I belive was Chuck Norris, and we all know how bad ass he is (see the million threads in here). Maybe thats a rumor, but thats what I have heard.

Hahahaha. Chuck Norris never beat Bruce Lee in any real competition.

the only ones who MIGHT have a chance to ground him would prolly be the Gracies...they could use their patience to perhaps wear him out and frustrate him...but even then as a fan of both MMA and Lee I gotta say Lees got the upper hand. He was just too savvy for any fighter

Is there any footage of Lee in real martial art combat situations?

That Dan Severyn fight ranks up with one of my all time favs. Thats when I started getting into it and really falling in love with MMA...Royce would always piss me off and I would hope someone would always beat him..but dude in the end..he was just so efficient with his moves and so patient...he would exasperate his opponents into faulty moves and BOOM...TAPOUT!!

Just read some posts here. You people are nuts to think any of those guys could beat Lee. Sure they are more rounded then he was but he would know this and finish them in seconds. Seconds.

As good as Lee was he was one dimensional. He was a striker and that's it. Yes if he was facing an opponent who had a mediocre ground he would have killed them. On the other hand an opponent with a strong ground game would have been able to take Lee down and applied a submission hold that Lee would have no experience in countering. This in no way diminishes Lee's abilities as a martial artist but he simply did not have the ground game to defeat some of the top ranked fighters in his weight class.

i think what people are questioning is whether or not anyone can even get close enough to him to take him down?

i'd say yes. there are plenty of MMA fighters that can take more than few hits, and keep right on going.

there's no question that Bruce was fast and accurate... but did he have knock-out power in every punch?

I copied this from Wikipedia, so it must be true:

Lee's striking speed from three feet with his hands down by his side reached five hundredths of a second.[49]

Lee's combat movements were at times too fast to be captured on film at 24fps, so many scenes were shot in 32fps to put Lee in slow motion. Normally martial arts films are sped up.[50][51][52]

In a speed demonstration, Lee could snatch a dime off a person's open palm before they could close it, and leave a penny behind.[53]

Lee could perform push ups using only his thumbs[41][48]

Lee would hold an elevated v-sit position for 30 minutes or longer.[47]

Lee could throw grains of rice up into the air and then catch them in mid-flight using chopsticks.[41]

Lee performed one-hand push-ups using only the thumb and index finger[48][54][41][48]

    Lee performed 50 reps of one-arm chin-ups.[55]

From a standing position, Lee could hold a 125 lb (57 kg) barbell straight out.[47][41]

Lee could break wooden boards 6 inches (15 cm) thick.[56]

Lee performed a side kick while training with James Coburn and broke a 150-lb (68 kg) punching bag[47][57]

Lee could cause a 300-lb (136 kg) bag to fly towards and thump the ceiling with a side kick.[48]

In a move that has been dubbed "Dragon Flag", Lee could perform leg lifts with only his shoulder blades resting on the edge of a bench and suspend his legs and torso perfectly horizontal midair.[58]

Lee could thrust his fingers through unopened steel cans of Coca-Cola, at a time before cans were made of the softer aluminum metal.[59]

Lee could use one finger to leave dramatic indentations on pine wood.[59]

If he could do all that, I'm pretty sure he would do well in MMA.

These all sound a lot like Chuck Norris facts. :D

What people have to realize is that a lot of the the top MMA fighters have an extensive training background in Muay Thai and if they know anything about Muay thai they would know that speed and accuracy are essential in that combat style. Bruce Lee was amazing and there is no denying that but many of the top fighter, especially those with a strong muay thai background, are just as lethal as Bruce was.

I saw a match once between a Taek Won Do black belt, I know that taek won do was not Bruce's form, and a muay thai kru and the fighter employing taek won do had his ass handed to him because his style did not prepare him to defend himself from the multiple points of attack that muay thai employes. He was simply overwhelmed. I have a moderate level of understanding of Bruce's style and it has a similiar defensive approach as taek won do, I studied taek won do from the time I was 7 till I was 16 and I can tell you that defensively you are not prepared for eight different attack points.

i don't really know that much about bruce lee's style so i can't really say how he would fair. I would expect from what i have heard and seen (his speed) that he would fair pretty damn well at the feather weight or light weight. I would also assume that he was an intelligent man and with the proper training could have had an excellent ground game due to his flexibility. Bruce Lee/BJ Penn would probably be a dream match if bruce was still around today.
