Don't turn this into a fight against 'the man'. It's not a marketing ploy: HDTV blows regular TV out of the water, and there's a reason it has caught on so fast. I'm sorry, but watching a game on my 42" LCD HDTV with surround sound on, vs. on my old 32" tube TV with the crappy little speakers is a no brainer. It's not a marketing ploy because, well, it's not going away anytime soon and it is completely going to overtake the old technology. You maybe could have called it a ploy 8 years ago when there were like 2-3 models available and only a handful of HDTV channels. We're past that now. Go find a refurbished HDTV for less $$$ and enjoy it.

but it is..........and to make sure you don't make the wrong choice they take away your other options..........

I may be alone in this thought but I don't need or really want a flat screen HDTV..........the picture on a Tube tv is just fine for me.........and for no more tv than i watch it's perfect...........

Only the big tech stores like Futureshop (Best Buy) sell ONLY LCD/plasma here. Our supermarkets that sell electronics still have a plethora of tube tvs, and prolly wal-mart or k-mart type stores too.

Definitely too small. 24/27/32 are the norm for what I see in stores, mostly 27s.

Best Buy in the USA has 'em. If you can't find 'em in stores, you can order online and ship to stores for pick up, and return in store.

Tube tvs are the best quality available at the mo. It's true. But they're limited in how big the screens can be. That's why lcd/plasma/etc are taking over, they can be made to bigger sizes.

    Essentially, tubes rule!

now here is someone who gets it..........unless you're being sarcastic............

No sarcasm, that's the truth right there. Nothing compares to a tube tv in terms of picture quality.
