Lucchino also pointed out that there’s no difference between playing exhibition games in Japan or in the states, which often happens when the Sox break camp each spring. In recent years, the team has played exhibition games in Atlanta and Philadelphia before starting the regular season.

“They are getting paid for 162 games, not 164,” he said...

    thats my point .

redsox ...the evil empire ... :) lighten up yall its just conversation
Except that Lucchino was speaking from a team management point of view and he was wrong. (Not the 1st time) 3 hours to goergia in the same time zone is not the same thing as 17 hours across the world. So much so that in the CBA the players have the power to say NO.

It wasnt just conversation, it was not paying attention and trying to get a Boston hate thing going.

Yep, bullpen catchers only make 60,000 to 80,000. (I know it's relative.) But that 40,000 is an extra half of his salary. The training staff makes about the same. And the clubhouse attendees were also supposed to get a smaller bonus. There are a lot of people that go into a baseball team. Plus other than managers, no one on the coaching staff makes that much money where 40,000 would be looked at as a small amount.
Actually they were talking on the radio yesterday about the bullpen catcher, his salry is 30K, so 40K is more than double.
The deal apparently is for MLB to pay the coaches/staff 20K each, and the Sox players have agreed to make up the difference for them.

As for Buffalo and his original post calling the Sox players babies..dude get a clue, the players were always getting paid, they threatened boycott when the pay for coaches suddenly disappeared, and now they are forking over the difference out of their pockets. This is the furthest thing from overpaid athletes being babies...they stuck up for those far less financially fortunate than themselves.
    This weekend we rock Portland
