Zine dedicated to Hippiemom

Trading Stories with the Leaves #3 will be dedicated to Hippiemom. Along with the artwork/writings that we have received, we're thinking of including a section with lines from you if you would like to write something as a memorial to her. If you would like to include a few lines just write in this thread. I'll consider that a reflection of your willingness to let us use your words. If you don't have a name with your lines, I'll just use your synergy name.
I'd like to include her image and name. Suggestions on how I would get those? Hopefully, we'll figure out how to send it to her family.
Here's mine to start:
Dear Hippiemom, when I saw your name attached to a thread I knew that a voice of empathy and reason had joined a discussion. Your warmth and intelligence shined through clearly, and you will be greatly missed. The word missed ends too short for what I'm feeling. I'll be thinking of you. - Maria

What a wonderful idea.Cause I'm broken when I'm lonesome
And I don't feel right when you're gone away0 -
(This might appear quite sentimental.. so anyone with a problem with that, just deal with it OK)
Hippiemom, I didn't speak to you a great deal, but I've heard a great deal spoken about you. You really left your mark on people. The Pit. Friends. Family. From my perspective, this goes to show how miracles can be happening right under our noses, lives are being changed, but our cynical selves rarely notice until it's too late.
You will be missed.

I think I'll stick to the few words I tried to write upon knowing:
"I bet none of us thought it could happen to her, even if she was so sick. She was too strong, too smart, too wise, too deserving to be the one who would make it...
I truly feel like I just lost a family member.
I can't imagine how her real family members feel like right now.
I had hoped to be able to offer a Vic ticket to her had I gotten through to them. I'm sure meeting her, had she been able to come, would have been the highlight of the experience.
I'm sure if there's a good place afterwards, she's in it."
Also Ms. Haiku... everyone is now remembering her for her wisdom and sweetness. She surely was those things. But let's not forget her feistiness, her rage against injustice and stupidity and ignorance. Those were even more beautiful traits of her. In this spirit, I would like to suggest as one of the pictures... the first one I saw of her years ago. She had her middle finger up and a beautiful, defiant look on her face.
She may have lost her battle to cancer, but in my mind right now she is saying "fuck you, bastard. You may have taken me away from my family and friends, but I am still so much better than you"... and the will to show I will always be better than before.0 -

And - forgive me, it's my belief - 'still alive'... somewhere... so she's not been beaten.'We're learning songs for baby Jesus' birthday. His mum and dad were Merry and Joseph. He had a bed made of clay and the three kings bought him Gold, Frankenstein and Merv as presents.'

Hi Maria,
I'll ask on MT. The pit records don't extend as far back as the time when the picture was posted. She posted that picture herself, which tells me she probably liked it. Perhaps someone who knew her personally would be able to retrieve it. But unless this comes easy... surely this is not a time to bother her family with the request.

i used to tell her that all the time. "you're feisty!"
and her reply was always the same. "you like 'em feisty."
it was one of the things i loved about her the most, her feistiness.
i dont remember exactly when and why she took this pic and sent it to me. but im sure i had it coming... its in my gmail somewhere. but its also up in her photobucket. link below.

You should find the thread on the AET... sticky.'We're learning songs for baby Jesus' birthday. His mum and dad were Merry and Joseph. He had a bed made of clay and the three kings bought him Gold, Frankenstein and Merv as presents.'

I was thinking that it would be nice if we, as a community, did something for her. I can't think of anything better!
The Astoria??? Orgazmic!
Verona??? it's all surmountable
Dublin 23.08.06 "The beauty of Ireland, right there!"

Thank you, Ms. Haiku.
I will take some time, revisit some of her posts and try to sum up what she meant to me, a complete stranger, as best as I can.
Thanks again. I think this will help a lot of us.Walking can be a real trip
