    You are right on all accounts, except for 7th Heaven...I've never watched that show. I did watch SITC when I lived in London since all the flatmates watched that together and 95% of my flatmates were women. It was quality 'bonding' time!

    oh my GOD. i live right up the road from there! well, sort of...but i have camped a few times on hwy 70 right by that place! i've even poked around there a couple times. god, i had no idea something that horrible had happened. aw man...now i have goosebumps, that is way too close to home...

    I still don't know if i'm gonna see the movie though, if its really based on those events. reading about it just made me so sad and horrified i don't think i'd be able to sit back and enjoy the movie. eh, maybe i'm just overthinking it.

    alright so thanks to this thread and EvilMerlin.......i went on the date to see this movie. I hadd my "fears" because.......I didnt want the images in my head. Allow me to say........this movie was WEAKSAUCE!!!!! Ok in the beginning i hadd NO IDEA what to exxxpect so the suspense was GREAT!!! Toward the end, you kind of alreddie know whats up. I was HIGHLY disappointed with the ending. And Mr. Redeyes......thanks alot. Right at the start of the movie it says how the film was based on ACTUAL EVENTS!!!!!!!!!!! :eek: FREAKED ME OUT!!!!!!
    i say wait for dvd. Oh and BECAUSE i was disapointed, i got to see sexxx and the city again right after The Strangers :D

    I have to say, I've seen much scarier films. With all the hype and the reviews that I read I thought this was going to be the scariest movie ever. I thought the beginning was scary but once you got over the startle tactics, it was very cliche. Liv Tyler was good I thought. She has a "real" quality about her. I honestly felt bad for her character. I thought the guy was lacking though.

    All in all, entertaining, but I wouldn't list it as a top scary movie I've seen.

    man, i am disappointed with the reviews!

    guess i will wait for it to be a rental.

    I saw this last night, and I really enjoyed it. One of the better scary movies I've seen in a while. It was kind of that realistic kind of terror as opposed to a slasher flick. The blond girl freaked me the hell out a couple different times.

    I agree with others who said it's not like the true events at all....and that would actually make for a better movie.

    I recommend seeing it.

    I have such a good memory that I try not to purposely put scary stuff in there. It gives me nightmares. :p

    (In other words, I won't watch this even if my husband rents it.)

    yes that part was creepy! And then when they were in the garage looking out the window, and she was just standing there looking at the house.....some of the stuff was cliche horror stuff (the pantry scene & when he shot the guy)....but the whole movie held a great deal of suspense.
