I won't be seeing it this weekend as I'm busy, but have plans put aside to see it the weekend after it opens. I'm excited for it.

Booo! Go see it anyway. Take a big grisly guy to protect you. Or better yet, wear a mask while watching it. So you enjoy the movie but you can't possibly be scared as you're freaking everyone else out while watching it with a mask on.

I thought this might be an interesting movie. The facts and things surrounding the murders are actually more creepy than the movie could ever be. The link you posted itself had a link to a site devoted to solving the murders. Believe it or not, the secondary site has a message board! Now, if you want to be scared and read some really freaky shit, follow the link:

Grabbed this from the Messge Board :

In the production notes for "The Strangers," the film's writer-director Bryan Bertino explains just what "true events" the film is based on:

"That part of the story came to me from a childhood memory. As a kid, I lived in a house on a street in the middle of nowhere. One night, while our parents were out, somebody knocked on the front door and my little sister answered it. At the door were some people asking for somebody that didn't live there. We later found out that these people were knocking on doors in the area and, if no one was home, breaking into the houses. In 'The Strangers,' the fact that someone is at home does not deter the people who've knocked on the front door; it's the reverse."

I want to! But I'm too freaking scared. The trailer alone freaks me the fuck out. I'm sure I'll watch it anyway, eventually. :D I love scary movies.

It's AFTER the fact, when I'm awake and have to turn off the lights and go to bed that I get scared.

I normally don't watch these types of movies because they are usually more lame than they are scary/suspensful. But this one looks better. :)

Plus, I'm am in love with Liv Tyler so I HAVE to see it!!! :D

I still peek when I'm in the shower to make sure no one is coming at me with a knife

    ;)

The scenes in this movie are freaky when the masked people don't talk and just stare

this is exactly how I feel about this movie too!

I did a google search on The Strangers and a wikipedia link showed up

That's where it said about the Keddie Murders

    Okay, thanks.

I was wondering because other than being in the woods or mountains (or where ever) the two stories are very different, I know when they say “inspired by true events” just about anything, but the Keddie murders would make one hell of a movie if they stayed true to the facts.

Yeah, that's what hit me about the "True Events"

Did you see the what I copied and pasted from the other message board about what the Director meant by True Events ?

I agree. After spending some time on the "Keddie" site, I think a story of those murders would be far scarier and more unsettling.

The Ghost Hunters should go there and investigate.

I just read that they demolished the cabin to prevent such people from trying it, however, if you believe in that sort of stuff I dont think a building being gone would deter you from investigating.
