Every Kiss Begins With Kay

  • It's just a play on words people...

    Every "k"iss begins with "k".

Obviously they change the spelling and try to tie it in to their jewelry store, but they're not really implying that every kiss starts by overpaying for jewelry.

    It really really is.

im glad im not the only one who thinks so. to be fair, she offered to return it at first and i said no hoping it would remind her of me and make her uncomfortable. i think she kept it to remember me by. but she still wears it and i doubt she even remembers where it came from.

It may not always be a bad thing. For my 18th birthday my boyfriend at the time got me a tiffanys bracelet with my name engraved in it. When we broke up after a year and 1/2 of being together I still wore the bracelet every day. It did remind me of him, and it reminded me of the good times, and the friend that I took away with me out of all of it. I know thats not exactly the case between you and the ex, Conor, but maybe its good for her to remember you, and maybe its hard to let it go completely. I still wear the bracelet to this day. It reminds me of a happy time in my life, and I figure I have a past, and just because we aren't together and he doesn't mean the same thing to me, doesn't mean I have to forget about it.

When my wife's grandmother was getting engaged she got the choice of a diamond ring or a cedar chest. She took the cedar chest :)
  • It's not Kay Jewelers but it made me laugh

Not all girls want diamonds, jewellrey or anything expensive.

I'd much prefer someone went out of their way to find a book I really wanted to read, or something like that.

A friend of mine is a really talented artist and she drew some awesome pictures and had them framed as gifts.

That's the kind of present that I'd like.

    This weekend we rock Portland
  • I'm not a fan of jewelery much, HOWEVER when my hubby proposed and after I got over the shock and excitement and was able to look at my engagement ring.....I WAS SOOOOO HAPPY!

For someone who doesn't put much stock in diamonds, I love my rings! They don't just sparkle and gleam, they mean so much more than that to me!

But, for the record, I hate those commercials too.

fuck that, we don't speak and she doesnt want to ever see me again. the ring is a claddagh ring, it's a sign of commitment. she wears it to show the world her love the other dude. if i ever see her, im asking for it back and throwing it away while she watches.
  • I think Cat Power is singing on one of those Diamond Commercials....where the couple is in bed, and he puts a necklace on her, and pretends to go back to sleep....I'm not certain...but it sure sounds like her.

So I'm watching the Lions/Cowboys game and during a commercial break I had the misfortune of viewing a Kay Jewelry commercial, which claimed "every kiss begins with kay."

I gotta say I certainly hope this isn't true.

In fact, I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say MOST kisses DON'T begin with Kay.

    Discuss.

    I find these commercials repulsive.

Not that a woman wouldn't like something that sparkles, not that someone in love doesn't like to give gifts, it's just that it makes it seem like the poor guy has to buy his wife or girlfriend's affection and that seems gross to me.

that bothers me too. love can't be measured in money or anything materialistic.

I never really know if I hate the Kay/Jared commercials or the Lexus christmas commercials more.

Actually I think that Jared one where the family is in the restaurant and they're all saying "he went to jared" and then at the end the girl looks all mushily into his eyes and says "he went to jared" really actually makes me want to vomit. I mean I seriously think that I would prefer to be vomiting than watching that commercial.

    OMG!!!

I absolutely hate the jared ones too...and the Lexus commercials with the bows on the cars. Fuck them.

Buying someone a car for Christmas.. it makes me think of the people who can hardly afford food and toys for their kids...those commercials must be a kick in a teeth.
