If you accept it as a principal and purport to defend it then you must also accept and defend the right for others to say things that you personally find offensive.
If you disagree with their words and opinions you should not seek to have them silenced but endevor to change them with the weight of your own.0 -

There can only be restoration if they build on or through a stream, or on a wetland. Not every store is built on one, most of the SuperWalmarts are in very urbanized areas, thus the stream has long since been destroyed and put into a pipe, only the rural new super walmarts that are expanding the burbs actually destroy streams and wetlands. Trust me, the restoration happens, its all I do, all over the country.....not just for box companies, for a very large number of government, private, and coorporate clients.Cheers,

iamica wrote:I've had friends who've worked for Walmart. All the crap you hear about them is true. Yes, they donate to charities, but they also destroy small businesses, treat their employees like crap, and sell really crappy products. Almost every electronic device or piece of clothing I bought from there didn't last a month.
My friend has worked there for 4 years. They make her work 12 hour shifts with few breaks and no overtime, and she doesn't get paid that much to begin with. Plus their health insurance is only offered to full time employees in most cases, and most of their employees are part time, yet end up working full time hours.
Walmart sucks.
ALL big corporations donate to charity these days. It's called "corporate social responsibility" and it makes them look good in terms of PR. That way they can bang on about how good they are, they did this and that, and gave this much away, and so on, and therefore divert attention away from all their dodgy practices, of which there are many no doubt!"We have to change the concept of patriotism to one of “matriotism” — love of humanity that transcends war. A matriarch would never send her own children off to wars that kill other people’s children." Cindy Sheehan

I'm not a fan of Wal-Mart but the bashing has just become the "IN" thing to do for those that think they are better than everyone else.
i wonder why all our our kids toys are full of lead??? couldn't have anything to do with wall-mart and the like paying bottom dollar for chinese children to make them using the shittiest quality resources available, not to mention the shitty working conditions. fuck, thing how bad THOSE kids are gonna be fucked up from that??

It's obviously a detriment to the people living here.
And there's something ironic about having the largest employer in the USA be a company that buys things made outside the country to sell in the USA. We are employed to sell things to each other rather than make things.

Hasn't lead been banned in kids toys, paints, etc? I think they are in Britain.
We have the same problem with all the cheapie fashion retailers that have sprung up over the past few years here - like Primark, Peacocks and so on. They can afford to provide straight off-the-catwalk dirt cheap knock-offs immediately due to the use of child labour overseas. Primark is a definite culprit. It's pretty disgusting but it feeds off the less well-off in the developed countries who flock to these cheap stores because they can't afford the real thing. It's a vicious cycle with the retailers pulling all the strings.
But then again, even Gap was caught out recently over their use of child labour."We have to change the concept of patriotism to one of “matriotism” — love of humanity that transcends war. A matriarch would never send her own children off to wars that kill other people’s children." Cindy Sheehan

if it's not ed, that's the best fucking imitation i've ever heard. i've listened to pearl jam for over 15 years, 20 times live, countless thousands of times during life in general, and saw this commercial on a movie screen with full blaring crystal clear sound. i thought it was ed...
the link about the buffalo band is dead. going to google it myself now. i'd have bet money it was ed.
