    :)

    just embarrassing, really.

Why on the news do they always mention that Coldplay didn't play here and never PJ? Who gives a fuck about Chris Martin?

And what a horrible way to open it, with fucking Supernova.
Its been 8 years, but I still believe...PJ in NZ 06!

Yeah I saw someone at the Wgtn Shihadatsun show in a PJ tour shirt from Argentina 2005. Tall guy with glasses. Rep-re-sent!

That would have been me; the same tall guy with glasses spoted in this recording of Pearl Jam in Buenos Aires http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/sam_warburton2/detail?.dir=/8fddscd&.dnm=f17fscd.jpg&.src=ph

I was staying in South America for a while and Pearl Jam happened to pay me a visit. I'll save you the 4000 word recap I sent friends back in NZ and just say it was the best time of my life. Both Buenos Aires shows, first night in Sao Paulo (missing out of Sao Paulo 2 after Ticketmaster's website crashed from the traffic), and finally Rio. Music-wise, Buenos Aires 1 was the best (unbelievable versions of Black and Rearviewmirror), but being front row for Buenos Aires 2 was more memorable.

    Photos for anyone curious:
Buenos Aires 1 - from centre of main stand - http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/sam_warburton2/slideshow?.dir=/1994&.src=ph
Buenos Aires 2 - closest, but taken through cellphone's camera so small and poor quality - http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/sam_warburton2/slideshow?.dir=/926d&.src=ph
Sao Paulo 1 - from left side stand - http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/sam_warburton2/slideshow?.dir=/79be&.src=ph
Rio - good quality, close photos - http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/sam_warburton2/slideshow?.dir=/66f3&.src=ph

and from the Datsuns & Shihad concert http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/sam_warburton2/slideshow?.dir=/cfe5scd&.src=ph

A better memento is the reasonable bootleg Floss_ULC from Shihad's forum posted http://www.mediafire.com/?5onfytdvjdg

Unfortunately I haven't come across a recording of the Datsuns' set. Anyone else?
Buenos Aires 25/11/05 "this has to be as far as your voices and your energy... of all the years I think this is the greatest audience we've ever played for... es verdad... I mean..no one sings the guitar parts for Christ's sake"
  • Man this thread is going slow since Ive been here last...

Well I made the big move to Invercargill to study Audio Engineering at SIT. I'm loving it so much. I've got great flatmates and also managed to get myself a really great girlfriend within the 1st week is was here. Let's just say it was a drunken game of hopscotch that brough us together.

Not much happening on the Pearl Jam front BUT. My sister got tickets for the Chilis and she's taking me to see them wooooooooooo!!!

I could be here all night talking but I've got heaps of other things to do. I hope you are all having fun!!!

It is typical that after all the nice weather we've had lately, it starts raining right when the christmas single starts arriving in Australia (so presumably NZ soon too). Almost without fail my 10C things arrive half sticking out of my letterbox and wet!

    Anyone got it yet?

Oops! Triple-posting! I'm sure that's breaking some forum rules. Who was the person that came in at the last minute at won the auction for the bonus 5-track cassette on Trade Me? It must've been someone here!

Yeah I received mine yesterday too! Very glad it wasn't raining. Like you, I also received a very wet Deep magazine last time around. And then we had six weeks of sunshine!

Rockin' in the Free World sounds much better than it looked. Not so cheesy or cringy on record, and Eddie sounds great.

hey - for those of you with rialto, the pj later with jools holland is on TOMORROW at 3.45pm - that would be easter monday. and again at 5.30am on tuesday.

i only remembered to check the listings coz there is an iconoclasts on tonight - but not ed's one and i don't see it listed either which is a bummer... but not missing jools this time round makes up for it!

btw...i got my xmas single weeks ago but i haven't listed to it yet coz my speakers are busted - but my turntable still works...can't have everything i guess.

I heard that Vector Arena still sucks. Kinda glad my first PJ experience wasn't there, as much as I would have loved to have seen them. Heard the Chillis were quiet boring too, so I'm glad I went to Slayer instead!

When I saw the Chilis there I thought the sounds was really good. My friends and I didn't have any problems with the show or the venue. I think it helped to be near the front on the floor. I guess the sound is a lot worse in the upper tier near the back. So after hearing the poor sound reviews I would definitely recommend always buying seats at the front, or floor tickets.

I'll keep that in mind. Although it is a really poor effort for a stadium that was planned to host most international shows.
