Last year in a tennis mixed doubles league our team was playing for the division on the last day against the team we were tied with. In the USTA they do 2 out of 3 sets but if you split sets you play a 10 point tiebreaker instead of a third set. So it's like a 6-6 tiebreak except it's first to 10 (instead of 7) win by 2. My partner and i were down 8-1 and i said to her "we'll we can't play any worse". Next thing you know we are down 9-6 and we ended up winning 12-10.

this year in the local club championships, I was in the finals and my buddy and I were down 5-0 in the first set and we came back to win 7-5 6-4, when we made the run in the first set I was serving at 4-5 and I told myself no way in hell they are gonna break me.

But mainly all the cool stuff I did in gymnastics; high bar, parrallel bars, vault, the rings, pommel horse and the floor excercises.

Never been one for competative sports really but I did once score 14 goals in a proper 11 vs 11 men football match at school. It was pretty ridiculous.

I also made a try from an 80 yard rush in an inter-school rugby match in some competition. Anyone here who has met me will vouch for my complete lack of rugby player physique :p I was just too slight and fast for the beefy guys to catch me.

In basketball I hit a halfcourt shot at the buzzer going into halftime that put my team up for good. We were down by 1, I hit the shot, went up at the half and the momentum from that shot carried through and we completely dominated the second half. Awesome feeling hitting a shot like that.

The only one that comes immediately to mind:

Back in camp (probably around 1991 if I had to guess) we were facing a camp known for killing us at sports. This was no different: we were down 15-1 with 1 out in the bottom of the first. No joke. So our counselor/coach comes over to me and asks if I was actually serious when I previously told him I wanted to pitch. I had pitched a few times, and I got all cocky and said sure. Mind you I was probably 15/16 at that point, still pretty small for my age, and the camp we were playing had kids on roids, but somehow I put my nerves aside and said put me in. I wamred up with him on the side for 10-15 pitches and went in to the game. I struck out the next 2 batters to end the inning. In the 2nd I struck out the first batter, got another to ground out, and struck out the 3rd. Then, well, we called the game w/ the mercy rule. But for those 1 2/3 innings, I absolutely got in some sort of zone I had never been in before or since while pitching. It was awesome.

Good lord I hadn't even thought about golf...I was only thinking about sports moments from when I was a kid!

My hole in one last year and my tap-in 1 foot putt for eagle on a par 5 this year (both in Arizona) are both etched in my brain. I have never felt the sort of adrenaline rush as I did after I got my hole in one. It was seriously a feeling I will never forget, and now that I think about it I would put as my #1 sports moment.

Another somewhat amusing one that comes to mind: there was a really tough kid in our class...He was a total bully, and thought he was a complete badass, and it was just kind of known you wanted to avoid him at all cost. Back in Babe Ruth baseball, I had to play his team one day (I think I was around 13?). For some reason, I have no idea why, I was playing 3rd base. It's a totally random position for me to play, but there I was. He slides into third after a gap hit and the throw to me was late, so he was in with a triple. However, in his cockiness, after the play was dead, he stepped off the bag while he was smiling and waving to his bench, and I tagged him with the umpire watching and he got called out. Oh MAN did I ever get a look of death from him but it was just about the greatest thing ever at that time. He never said a word about it after that day. I think he was too embarassed.
