What is/are your best sporting moments??

I am a massive sporting fan, I reckon there must be some ripper stories. It might be a goal, wicket, try shot something.

I will share 3 of mine

1) I played 2 seasons of soccer/football, I cracked a half volley from about 10m outside the box and got in the top left hand corner of the net.

2) played cricket for years. Fielding at mid off. A ball came low hard and well to my left, dived full length and just held on to it. In the huddle after the wicket, my fingers were already bruised from how hard hit was hit.

3) I was at an away ground playing cricket, and I was fielding on the boundary and I had a few of their locals start to abuse me, and making rude comments about my mum, and other things. I went on to bowl the next over and after I had finished my second over I had taken 3 wickets for about 2 runs and I ran back down there telling them to Fuck off you c**** (don't normally say that word but I was really angry) and how i was going to kick their arses after the days play if they were still hanging around. It was one of my more satisfying moments of my sporting days.

Please share your moments.

i can't think of 3 but there was this one time playing footy in school p.e. where i wasn't the last to be picked, ooooh i remember it to this very day! :D

also a few classy/lucky golf shots ive played like chipping in from off the green or sinking a monster 40+ foot putt.

Blimey there's three right there! Although none as dramatic as yours im afraid :(

Club football match. Our team seriously sucks. We stink up the joint. We were trailing 3-1 at half time in this match, and we'd brought some drinks with us to have a nice time after the match. We figured we may as well start early, so we went on the piss at half time.

Turns out we're so shit, we play better when we're pissed. We came back to win 4-3. Their goalie was absolutely useless, a fill in perhaps, and any half arsed attempt at goal either went in or made him look really stupid. Moreso than one of our guys who puked on the pitch.

    Ok, that's 1.

2: Being the youngest guy in my school's football competition history to receive a red card, for going nuts with slide tackling in an under 9s match. Hmm. I idolised Dennis Wise as a kid. Made sense, really. My tackling managed to start a few mass push and shoves over the years.

3: Winning every game in a club season. (all my teammates then proceeded to play rep football the next season, leaving me with a bunch of newbies in a higher division next year. Our best result was a 8-0 loss. Goodbye club football career!)

hehe, the 4th choice rugby squad in my school used to have lots of cans on the sidelines instead of waterbottles....i can imagine the scenes :)

soccer - for me it was nutmegging my friend three times in a match we played a week or two ago....then had to fill in for our goalie and made six one-on-one saves....conceded one but overall a great day!

im not that sporty so this was a big deal!

I came 2nd in my county in the U16 50m freestyle when I was just 13 :) . If I'd entered the following year I woulda won and went to the all-ireland... cos the girl who won was too old and I could beat everyone else.

I also got to the final of the penalty shoot out in our sports day at school :D was the only 4th year girl to get through, woo!

Does pool count? Lol. Beating 6 or 7 smug and arrogant french guys off the table in Paris :) that was fucking fantastic.

Haha. I just realized I played soccer for 5 years, handball for 8 years, was on the swimming team for 4 years and I have not had a single great accomplishment that I can remember .

I did play five games in seven hours in a handball tournament though, and the last one was finished half past midnight. That's the one thing I remember. Then we all got drunk (on three beers) and tried to hit on the hot players from the national team .

    1.) A walk-off homer
2.) 270 yds rushing in one game
3.) A buzzer beating 3-pointer to send our team into OT and eventually winning the game
I love to turn you on

    1) Shot my first "under par" round of golf at 16, then got burned out after playing in high school and quit for five years, now I just try to hack it on the golf course.

    2) Got a red card from my own father in soccer. Yelled at the linesman that he mad a "horrible fucking call" on an offsides, and my dad heard it.

    3) Got knocked out of a golf match in high school...almost literally. A teammate was hitting on our hole and I was up and to the side (almost in the next hole overs fairway), and he hits a work burner right at me and hits right on the bone of my ankle. I thought it was shattered, but came back the next day and played in the match the next day, walking all nine holes and getting medalist honors for the lowest score for the match.

I played one of my best softball games while barfing behind the backstop between innings.

It was an indoor softball tourney and the bathroom was behind the backstop in the gym and there were just the 8 of us (small gym, no right field, ergo 8 players). When it was my turn to bat, my teammates would come knock on the door and ask if I was still alive. :o

I was thinking more about finishing the damn game so I could go rest and barf some more afterwards, instead of the game itself.

The next day, my coach was disappointed that I was feeling better.

Looking back I'd say my best moment was at the time my worst. I was a pretty good baseball player, especially pitching (all-state my freshman year of highschool). Unfortunately, I blew out my rotator cuff, but it was initially diagnosed as just a strain and I was told I could pitch again after a few weeks of physical therapy. My first pitching appearance after the injury was in relief, and I had thrown about 3 pitches when my coach tells the catcher to call time, they both come out to the mound for a meeting. I was a bit surprised, but I figured my coach just wanted to make sure my arm felt ok. and then my coach asks me if I know 1 finger means fastball. I was throwing as hard as I could and topping out at about 60, compared to the normal high-80's/90ish I previously threw. I can honestly say that was the most embarrassed I've ever been, but looking back on it now, it was absolutely hilarious.

Last year in a tennis mixed doubles league our team was playing for the division on the last day against the team we were tied with. In the USTA they do 2 out of 3 sets but if you split sets you play a 10 point tiebreaker instead of a third set. So it's like a 6-6 tiebreak except it's first to 10 (instead of 7) win by 2. My partner and i were down 8-1 and i said to her "we'll we can't play any worse". Next thing you know we are down 9-6 and we ended up winning 12-10.

this year in the local club championships, I was in the finals and my buddy and I were down 5-0 in the first set and we came back to win 7-5 6-4, when we made the run in the first set I was serving at 4-5 and I told myself no way in hell they are gonna break me.

Never been one for competative sports really but I did once score 14 goals in a proper 11 vs 11 men football match at school. It was pretty ridiculous.

I also made a try from an 80 yard rush in an inter-school rugby match in some competition. Anyone here who has met me will vouch for my complete lack of rugby player physique :p I was just too slight and fast for the beefy guys to catch me.

In basketball I hit a halfcourt shot at the buzzer going into halftime that put my team up for good. We were down by 1, I hit the shot, went up at the half and the momentum from that shot carried through and we completely dominated the second half. Awesome feeling hitting a shot like that.
