My favorite is probably "Thirteen Days".
Others that I like are:
Mr. Smith Goes to Washington
The American President (cheesy, but I like the acting and Sorkin's dialog)
Hotel Rawanda
Primary ColorsMy whole life
was like a picture
of a sunny day

I wanted to include both of those but they got squeezed out, every time it's on I'm watching.

not really an 'election' movie, more about replacing a dead VP...but an absolutely brilliant political film: the contender
joan allen, jeff bridges, gary oldman and christian slater

matthew broderick and reese witherspoon

Anyone seen the Documentary Street Fight? I was a documentary about the 2002 Race for Mayor of Newark. It was really well done and showed all the dirty tricks the existing mayor used to stay in power including finding out the names of people working for the city who were volunteering for his opponent (and transferring them to crappier jobs, or graveyard shifts) and having the cops ticket all the cars in front of the other guys HQ. Really worth checking out.

BOB ROBERTS!!!
Probably the best political satire of all time.
Tim Robbins showed up at the Redding PA show as the title character; he came out in a wheel chair and got electrocuted. I got there too late to see it, but it was in the film about the Vote for Change tour that was on the Sundance Channel.0 -

Same here!
It really gave me a different feeling about politics. Hard for me to explain, but it was like an eyeopener. I had a lot of respect for her character, but the end was a WOW.
It feels like it could have been written by Aaron Sorkin that's how perfect I think this movie was.
