So when my gay son and I are eating lobster dicussing which brothel we should sell his sister too...............we may not get into heaven. I may have to explain to god that we had no influence over our beautiful son through his growing up and that he just likes the same sex. I wonder if the all knowing would know that that was going to happen after granting the wife and I a child. Or is it just some trick god is playing.

yes i did attack the messenger in the first paragraph and in the second i offered refuting of one of his points and offered up ways to get answers. as for addressing your second paragraph, hell, I don't know...I really don't subscribe to any organized religion, in fact, I think religion was put in place to keep the masses in line...

God detests all sin. If one assumes homosexuality to be a sin it is detested, as is lying, cheating, killing etc. Yes people do have struggles with homosexualtiy just like lying and cheating etc... it's b/c we are not perfect, no one is (except mccready when he's in the zone, but i digress). If there is someone who is heterosexual and they look down on someone who is gay that is a huge problem. I've said it before, to me it's an all or none thing. You are either 100% perfect or you are not perfect in God's eyes...no one is perfect so we're all in the same boat.

i agree that organized religion definitely tries to keep the masses inline. I saw a great quote re: this and it was " I don't have a religion, i have a relationship". That sums it up. To me Christianity is about having a relationship and getting "personal" if you will. It's not about saying the right thing at the right time in church. Or voting for a particular person b/c the religious right tells you to. Absolutely religion has been used as a means to control masses. To me, it's about wanting to learn more about God and if you want to base your life around his teachings which can be done through discussion, reading etc...

People are so worried about the homosexuality being a sin, yet, the 10 big ones are broken by leaders of nations who people vote into power. And I don't remember the "thou shalt not be gay" commandment while growing up.

I wonder if somebody like you (not offending just wondering) had a child and it grew up gay that you would look back and actually see the pattern developing as the years rolled by. Or if you would commit suicide wondering where you went wrong. Get where that is coming from. I don't think being gay is a choice by at least 80% of the gays out there.

I think the reason that people are so worried about homosexuality being a sin is b/c most people don't struggle with it. Everyone struggles with lying etc... so it's commonplace so it's accepted that it occurs. But you have such a small amount of the population that struggles with homosexuality that it's easier to condemn that sin b/c the majority don't understand why or how you could be attracted to the same sex. There is references to sexual perversion in the Bible that condemn it though.

I def think there is a genetic predispositioning toward homosexuality and I don't think it's a choice in some instances. I think it's a struggle like everything else. I know I'll catch flack for this but if you think about it like an addiction (not equating the 2) and that some people are genetically easily addicted to drugs / alcohol and so they will spend a lot of time struggling with that genetic predisposition. The choice comes in to play if they choose to indulge in it. I feel some of it is the same with homosexuality. If you are a christian and want to follow christ I'm sure that is a difficult predisposition to reconcile with Christianity. I watched a suitemate of mine go through that and it was hell for him.

I would not commit suicide if I had a son or daughter who was gay. I won't lie and say I would be pleased (there's no way i would ever sever ties b/c of it) b/c I think that most people want the traditional view for their child. Most don't watch children grow up and say I hope steve finds a nice boy to marry (that's an assumption on my part, but I'm willing to guess it's fairly accurate). I would hope that i would love my child regardless. I'm sure we'd have discussions about it, but it's not worth cutting someone off b/c they are gay. Those are the sad stories when they occurr, Jesus called us to love everyone.

...and we are Human Beings, not a religion.

    I'm not Christian. I'm not Muslim.....I'm not a religion.

You, me, them, everyone......we are Human Beings.

Religion is simply a work of literature created by Human Beings.

Sorry, the God of the Bible detests all sin. When there's a verse that says the wages of sin is death, i think it's fairly easy to make that statement.

Why, thank you for that response. I am glad that you can accept that being gay could be a genetic thing.

Through study, i BELIEVE it was inspired by God and written by men. Is this the discussion where you say it was assembled to manipulate man and they purposefuly left out passages and the people who put it together had an unholy agenda? b/c if it is, I've had the conversation before and we're just going to spin wheels. Are certain God didn't write / inspire the bible and can you prove it to be a farce?

  • Um... wow.... Can anyone defend this?
Well yeah, finish reading the Bible. These are all old laws that Paul said was nailed to the cross with Jesus. They fit the need at the time for a nation to grow and prosper. Jesus is law now according to the Bible and the Jews have lost their favored position. I've read the Bible cover to cover a few times. Personally, I'm not a big pusher of the bible, but this post is rediculous.

  • Stupid!

If you think homosexuality is a sin, don't engage in it or associate with those who do. Keep yourself clean with God if you believe he hates such things and do not be watching your neighbor as to what he will do. It is none of your business. The Bible says that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.

If you are gay, don't pretend to be a Christian. Do you know how ignorant that makes you look? Homosexuality is cleary outlawed in Scripture in both Testaments. How can a preacher be gay an not a hypocrite?

If you don't believe the bible, then why the fuck would you care if anyone likes it or not if you are gay? Be gay, fuck it. You'll make me want to puke, but go ahead if you want, what do I care? Spread disease like the rest of us if you want. I'm not fucking anyone in your gene pool anyway.

Did you miss the part in here about being born gay. So if your kid is gay and you can't tell when he/she is three months old. You are sinning by taking them to church? And how would you react to your child telling you that they are gay. Put a bullet in their head? Wonder how your weak genes could screw up a life so easily? Would god look down on you because you created a homo? Curious......

edit: Were you born christian or whatever floats your boat? Or did you learn it through your parents? Could you have explored other religions or was the one that was rammed down your throat the right one? Again, curious.......
