    There are a few I've heard/seen live.

St. Louis '04 (VFC) Small Town. Brutal! :D
  • I remember during Once in Pinkpop 92, Jeff's bass screws up horribly.
    10/5/04 St. Louis
    5/3/10 Kansas City
    5/4/10 St. Louis
8/28/10 Little Rock - EV solo w/ guests

Love Boat Captain - Vancouver 05....but I was there and didnt even notice until I got the boot. Feel very special about witnessing that live...and you know what, I think it's awesome if they mess up - that mean's they're the real thing, really....And that's why they're so great! The Who even mess up...it's all good....

Kitchener 05 - Soon Forget. I forget what he sung instead, or did he fuck something else up and sing Soon Forget. I was at the show, and probably have the boot, but can't remember offhand. It was pretty spectacular though - he gave up on one song and did another on ukelele.

he played can't keep instead :)
  • SOLAT from San Fran night 1 last year. One lyric was even "I can't remember nothing."

Babo O'Riley at the Gorge fell apart in a few places. It was good times though.

Philly 05- when the amp blew up and made that fucking horrible screach

    and

East Rutherford 06- when the power went out for what seemed like 4ever

    east rutherford 06... during alone.

    fucking buzz kill!!

one of my fav PJ tunes! i was so pissed!
  • I always enjoy "Off He Goes" from 09/01/05. Ed tries to remember the lyrics,

he goes to sing them and realizes he doesn't know them, so there's a brief

moment where he fumbles for them, then laughs at himself(as well as the

crowd) and then skips like, two verses of the song. At the end, he addresses

the crowd and says, "I always thought that song was a little long anyway."

Sometimes I think that he does that intentionally in order to draw a reaction

from the crowd. I seem to remeber a good one from Alpine '03 during "Hide

    Your Love Away" also.
"WE'RE UH, WE'RE GONNA DO THIS ONE WHICH IS UH, CERTAINLY NOT A USUAL ONE, AND THEN UH, JUST TAKE A FEW MORE MINUTES, THEN UH, AND THEN WE'RE GONNA DO OUR BEST TO KEEP TOM PETTY AND THE HEARTBREAKERS AWAKE FR..." (cheering at intro)...

    (special moment)
  • id have to go with montreal 2000 when stones amp just craps out on him during pilate (i think it was pilate). then they play last kiss without him lol.
some pretty good ones mentioned on here, though!

    OH OH OH OH
has anyone listened to "down" from the gorge july 22, 06? is it jeff that screws up during that one? i cant put my finger on it. its sometime during the second verse
  • Breath...pretty much everytime I've heard it, Ed fucks it up.

On several occasions the man forgets the entire first verse and the crowd has to help him remember...one of many classic live PJ moments

    Lexington, KY 2003 supra.

*Edit* Immediately proceeding "Breath" they screw up again on "Betterman"...Ed finally admits to the crowd that "you know it better than we do"....what a memorable show, well maybe not for the band. :)
I'm trying to drink away the part of the day I cannot sleep away...
  • As a Detroit PJ fan, i can say without a doubt that every Detroit show in the last ten years has had at least one solid trainwreck.

Eddie gets too much of the blame in these, btw. I like in the Detroit 5/21/06 boot, where he talks about Stone messing up Small Town in Grand Rapids, three nights before, but that the local paper wrote a review saying Ed forgot the words. :)

I think most people just don't notice the musical mistakes quite as much. I remember Mike always played in the wrong key on Tremor Christ, and I always used to look forward to that tune. Not no more, as the saying goes.

Mike again, messed up Fatal on Benaroya. Another boot tune i was really looking forward to.

ah well. they've more then made up for all of 'em.

    cheers

Mine was All Those Yesterdays, 98 Minneapolis. Stone's guitar cut out and as the techs were attending to the problem, Ed took a sip of tea and said something like "take your time" and then the crowd started cheering and it got louder and louder and it came to a point that EVERYONE was screaming and Ed laughed and said, "We should fuck up more often!" - then we all went wild! One of my favorite songs and I saw it live and this made it even more memorable (when they finally got their shit together and played it)
  • I can't recall how many countless times Ed changes the lyrics to Do the Evol. Can't blame the guy when you're drinking bottles of wine every night!!!

I dont think they messed up... I always assumed it was a mumble through, "earthquakes making waves". It was too close after the big tsunami in the indian ocean.
