U.S. Sen. John Kerry, D- Mass., who was in town Sunday to help Gov. Jennifer Granholm campaign for her re-election bid, took time to take a jab at the Bush administration for its lack of leadership in the Israeli-Lebanon conflict. "If I was president, this wouldn't have happened," said Kerry during a noon stop at Honest John's bar and grill in Detroit's Cass Corridor.

Bush is a complete retard, but im beginning to see why Kerry lost to him. What a dumb statement. Does he thinks he can stop the whole Jew vs Muslim fight? I expect an "If I was president. . ." armchair quarterback statement from Howard Dean, but not John Kerry. The Republican Party is really hurting right now, but it seems the Democrats are almost just as dumb.

The irony is that Bush likely took a big leadership role, or his administration did, in planning the attacks anyway

just not the leadership role that's I don't know...moral, humane, fair, or justified in any real sense of the word

WRONG! The Democrats are not "almost as dumb." They are much, much dumber.

The Dems had the election in the palm of their hands but supported the wrong guy. Bush was ripe for defeat and everyone here knows it. There are life-long Democrats that I know that despite their obvious dis-like for Bush, just did'nt see an upgrade with John Kerry.

And yes....Tool is the perfect word for him

i disagree....i thought kerry was the best candidate the dems had. i just think he was too much of a pussy, to be frank. he let the repubs walk all over him with that swift boat bullshit, but he tried to stay above all that and play it clean. well, look what it got him (and us)...he needed to fight fire with fire, and get in there and sling shit like the repubs.

and don't forget the dirty tricks those fuckers unleashed, like cheney saying we'd be hit again if kerry was elected. and then kerry gets a bunch of shit for bringing up cheney's gay daughter...wtf?

bottom line...repubs won on FEAR. as much as they say they hate terrorists, make no mistake...the terrorists won the election in '04. i hope people have come to their senses since then...we'll see in november.

I don't know. Kerry was beating his chest about his Vietnam service with the full knowledge that he pissed these swift-boat fuckers off a long time ago. This was not something that Bush & Rove just created out of thin air. This guy O'neill or whatever, who wrote that book, has been a thorn in Kerry's side going back to the seventies. He chose to glorify his war service, but the problem was that he also chose to villify that same war and the Americans who fought in it. Whether that was his intent or not, I do not know, but the politics of Vietnam aside, the people that fought that war took an awful lot of shit when they came back. What Kerry did, while his intent may have been to speak out against a mistake, was alienate a lot of soldiers even further.
He tried to play both sides of this, and found out that it was very hard to do.

As far as the terrorist thing goes, that was typical politics man. It was the Republicans meal ticket. It should not have surprised you and should not have caught Kerry " off-guard " to defend it, as you seem to suggest.

I wouldn't have voted for any DEM or REP, but I'll agree that John Kerry was a very bad candidate and if forced at gunpoint to vote for one or the other, I couldn't have voted for him.

To say that this conflict wouldn't have happened if he was president is asanine and makes him look like a spoiled brat and sore loser.

Totally agree. They are inept, incapable, name-calling wimps.

However, I would rather have a democrat in office over a war-mongering, corrupt, self-serving, uneducated retard.

Congress sucks, the whole system sucks. No one fucking cares about anything except getting re-elected and will do whatever to get votes, not what needs to be done for the sustainability of our great country.

Sustainability: Reduce Trade Defecit, Import/Export balance, Protecting the Middle Class, Environment, Repeal Tax Cuts While at War, Increase Funding of Education.

Actually, when Kerry stood up at his convention and gave a salute while saying "Im John Kerry, and I report to duty" is when I knew Bush would win and that Kerry was a tool.
