What will happen is that we won't pull back our troops from Iraq until after the Primary Elections. And even that won't be a large enough pull back.

What will happen until that point is that Bush will do everything he can to maintain the status quo.

    Any questions?

The planning of US bases in Iraq was in the works in GB I's time. Maybe before. This is a long-term money maker...everything else (the politics) is just fluff.

Seriously... how do War Supporters see this panning out?
How long is too long? How are you planning to MAKE Shi'ites and Sunnis end their 1200 year old religious based hatred of each other? Do we need to station 140,000 combat ready troops there... or can that number be drawn down? How do we exit? Can we quietly sneak out the back door when no ones looking? Won't they notice that we've gone and start their bullshit all over again?
And I know Conservatives hate throwing good money on bad money... I know I do... how much is too much? When is it going to be seen as 'waste'? We're just past the half a trillion (TAXPAYER) dollar mark... are we good for a Trillion? Two Trillion? What?

It's pretty simple: stop the aggressor role.

It won't happen though, they've got another whatever how many billion to keep bullying the Iraqi people around for awhile. Woohoo! And, apparently, they're taking away guns from the citizens as of January, per the puppet prime minister or president, or whatever the fuck he is. Does anyone here even know the name of the "democratically" elected leader of Iraq right now?

Fucking Bush and Cheney need to be taken out to the woodshed.

    And shot.

This is Gold Rush days for the Neocons. They're moving at a speed faster than we dare to comprehend. This is their element, this is their time.

    I have a proposition:

Everybody that still supports our involvement in Iraq should volunteer 1 year of their life and go over there and see if they can sort things out.

    Any takers?

    I'm calling you out c'mon...

True. They'll cash in regardless. People like Paperplates et al will benefit in no way whatsoever from this war. The fat cats at Halliburton will get rich out of it whatever happens. And that's the whole point. The U.S Government and the big corporations - is there any difference? - don't give a fuck about the U.S men and women over there dying and getting maimed every day. This is a gold rush for them, pure and simple. I'd go so far as to say that anyone who supports the Bush Administration is a traitor to their people.

Your name is representative of a particular type on this message board. Fortunately there's only a few of you. Most people on the board are decent, reasonable types - like Jlew for example, who, despite having opposing views to myself, doesn't feel the need to resort to personal abuse whenever he happens to be challenged on anything.

Bad knee, ashtma are a few of the answers I have seen on this forum. Toss in scared as fuck to get killed and you have the real reason people can type on this board all day long about how great the war is and not go down to the shipping centre and get their gear and join their fellow Yanks in a true to life video with no reset button when the enemy gets ahold of you.
You've changed your place in this world!

The wishes of the Iraqi people will be realized.

"Seven in ten Iraqis want U.S.-led forces to commit to withdraw within a year. An overwhelming majority believes that the U.S. military presence in Iraq is provoking more conflict than it is preventing..."

I don't think you guys have any more information than the Iraqi people concerning what will happen. But $2 billion of our tax dollars won't be transferred each week from our treasury to the military-industrial complex. And US soldiers won't continue to die in efforts to vindicate Chenys speculations, which thus far have been mistaken and a waste.

If the only two options were to occupy Iraq or walk away leaving them in this condition.... that is pretty sad.

We can and should end the occupation. Investigate and hold accountable those responsible - and work with the leaders in Iraq and her neighbors. Provide assistance in protecting the borders.

Civil war may be the only way to determine leadership - and if so - then they will have their civil war for power. Just as all nations have.

Its not complicated at all. If we continue to swallow the assertions of our waring government that Iraqis are incapable of settling their own domestc problems - then we will perpetuate this thing we created.

The U.S. must leave now. It will only get worse for the U.S. and other people in that region if they stay. The U.S. is an irritant there, not a tonic or salve, as so many people believe. I have to laugh at people, especially Americans, who pose questions like yours which seem to show concern for Iraq and people within its borders. If you really cared about Iraq and the 50,000 IRAQIS YOU JUST MURDERED, you would have asked the tough questions in March of 2003. The U.S. was told beforehand, and in detail, that such a scenario would unfold yet it went ahead anyway. I have very little sympathy for the U.S. and its continued presence will only inflame the region and increase the likelihood of terrorism.

it is wrong to think the troops are there doing any good, they are inflamming the situation and as soon as they get out the better.

there are millions of people in iraq and only a few thousand troops, they are only making matters worse being there.

if you were in support of your troops then you would call for them to be safely sent home so no more are needlessly killed on a pack of lies by the british and american governments.

there were no weapons of mass distruction...
