I would assume its a Mason lyric, hence stating his name.
 Interesting concept though.0

It's from Marilyn Manson's The Reflecting God.
The lyric popped into my head when I was thinking about why humans would ever suicide bomb. I thought of this, if they aren't afraid of death, there is no reason to live, especially when the after-life is much more pleasurable.
Here are the rest of the lyrics.
 your world is an ashtray
we burn and coil like cigarettes
the more you cry your ashes turn to mud
the nature of the leeches, the virgin's feeling cheated
you've only spent a second of your life
my world is unaffected, there is an exit here
I say it is and its true
there is a dream inside a dream,
I'm wide awake the more I sleep
 you'll understand when I'm dead
I went to god just to see, and I was looking at me
saw heaven and hell were lies
 when I'm god everyone dies
scar/ can u feel my power
shoot here and the world gets smaller
scar/scar/ can u feel my power
one shot and the world gets smaller
let's jump up on the sharp swords
cut away our smiles without the threat of death there's no reason to live at all
my world is unaffected, there is an exit here
I say it is and its true
there is a dream inside a dream,
I'm wide awake the more I sleep
 you'll understand when I'm dead
I went to god just to see, and I was looking at me

scar/scar/ can u feel my power
one shot and the world gets smaller
scar/scar/ can u feel my power
shoot here and the world gets smaller
 shoot shoot shoot motherfucker
 shoot shoot shoot motherfucker
each thing i show you is a piece of my death
no salvation,ah ah no forgiveness ah ah x11

Most of his songs have good messages in them, you just have to get passed all the showy crap. Take The beautiful people for example.
I dont want you and I dont need you
Dont bother to resist, Ill beat you
Its not your fault that youre always wrong
The weak ones are there to justify the strong
The beautiful people, the beautiful people
Its all relative to the size of your steeple
You cant see the forest for the trees
 You cant smell
Your own shit on your knees
Hey you, what do you see?
 Something beautiful, something free?
Hey you, are you trying to be mean?
If you live with apes, man, its hard to be clean
 Theres no time to discriminate,
 Hate every motherfucker
 Thats in your way
The worms will live in every host
Its hard to pick which one they eat most
The horrible people, the horrible people
Its as anatomic as the size of your steeple
Capitalism has made it this way,
 Old-fashioned fascism

That takes me back to my gothic-90's/spiritual-chick-but-still-drinking-and-carousing-in-bars days. I loved dancing to this song. I still work out to it. Thanks love!!! Just did myself a little google search and then went a hunting through the cd collection. It's from the album Lest We Forget (The Best of).
I've got it on now. I do remember it now that I can hear it. Was just having trouble placing it in context. I admit to being more up with the lyrics from Mechanical Animals. I do remember it now that I can hear it. Was just having trouble placing it in context. I admit to being more up with the lyrics from Mechanical Animals.
And as to suicide bombing, well not that I could ever imagine wanting to do it myself, I can understand the thought process of someone that could. I've always considered that there are some who do this because the life that they have here "on earth" has been so full of violence and hatred and anger and loss that they do want to make others suffer with their death and get their chance to "join" loved ones in the afterlife. I struggle a bit more getting into the head space of some one who could do it simply because they think something better is waiting for them "on the other side". But I think that's because I don't believe there is an "other side".
Certainly though I think one has to be aware of just how different our lives are. When I think of children that are brought up in war zones, live through unmentionable horrors, lose loved ones and all hope in humanity and are then "recruited" by organizations that have something to offer them then I can see why they might see it as a solution to end their own suffering and make a statement. Not that I condone it. But I often reflect at just how lucky I am that I was able to grow up in Australia where it's been relatively violence free and how that just isn't the case for so many people in this world.NOPE!!!

Will take it away Bit of a personal fav of mine. I used this and silverchair's Freak and a teeny bit of Moloko as part of the soundtrack for my 1st year Mask performance. It was called "Extreme Makeover" and was a bit of a dig at the plastic surgery industry and all the bullshit about how people are shaping themselves to be "fashionably attractive" and how important and obsessive looks are in this world currently. I set it in the future. It was a real tongue in cheek about what the fuck is gonna be considered asthetically pleasing 50 years from now. Bit of a personal fav of mine. their one-hit wonder song included lyrics of them kicking manson's ass.... manson wasn't so happy about it... he thought they were offensive...... that's when i figured that he wasn't as "dark" and "cold" as he portrayed himself.
my cousin had a friend who was a killer hot model.... says manson screwed her once but it only took him 2 minutes.... great story. This isn't the land of opportunity, it's the land of competition.0

It is also a fairly powerfult statement that reflects something that all of us know deep down- that it is the fleeting nature of life that makes it all the more special.

Damn, I had to put on Antichrist Superstar now. I agree with you Ahnimus. Get behind the worst showman-isms and drama, and he has some points and great lyrics. At least in the antichrist-mechanical-holy wood period.
As for the point about life being pointless without death, I would somewhat agree. Just as there must be evil to know good, there must be death to know life. Think of Tolkien's description of the immortal elves vs the mortal humans. The elves are aloof, set in routine and merely exist to a larger extent, while humans have the drive and will to really do things as they will die anyway, and know their time is limited. The brightest flame burns the quickest and all that.

I know Manson isn't such a bad guy, I watched him speak about Columbine and he was pretty insightful.
