But I see you did say "select individuals," so I suppose that covers them. The thing is, there are select individuals on most stations representing both sides (or neither in many cases). The vitriol against Fox is that the station - not the individuals - is openly conservative. And that's fine. They also seem openly hostile, but maybe that's just my perspective. What I see coming from the likes of Olberman is a response to that hostility, not the instigation of it.
And as for Clinton blowing up on that Fox show, it probably had more to do with that ABC drama and the follow through by conservative commentators. He had every right to respond, and if he'd done it politely, we wouldn't be talking about it now. But for the record, there was Carlson - on MSNBC - calling Clinton a whiner and a baby afterwards. I don't think anyone tried to skewer him for it. So, I do see a fair playing field.
right I couldnt think of their names. as for fox being "openly conservative". i can see where people think that. but I would also say places like MSNBC, BBC, NYTIMES are very openly liberal. there are more openly liberal media outlets compared to conservative ones. fair playing field? not exactly, but its close enough I guess. lets hug0 -

That's just the tip of the iceberg. The out-and-out hate for the Clintons was huge to the talk radio boom of the 1990's. The most popular radio shows in the country are Rush, Hannity, Michael fucking Savage. How many of the big names in conservative media gained notoriety in the 90's by attacking the Clintons?"Of course it hurts. You're getting fucked by an elephant."0 -

I think the reason is it's a commuting type thing. People listen to it in their cars, and, you know, the suburbs are loaded with conservatives.0 -
RainDog wrote:But if we're going to bring in other outlets besides cable news, allow me to present you with Talk Radio. So there's plenty of bias available for both sides, in many different formats, if that's what people are looking for.
I agree about Radio. anyone with an opinion on anything seems to have their own radio show.0 -
RainDog wrote:True, but you have to admit that talk radio is dominated by the right.
Aside from a few "select individuals," of course.
I honestly dont know. I watch move TV then radio. although every person I see on TV (left and right), says...."on my radio show today".....
dominated by the right? thats a strong word. how about 145 conserative radio shows vs. 138 liberal ones. thats sounds about right0 -
RainDog wrote:Right. If we're talking bias here, talk radio is a striking example of it.

What with their gated communities and SUV's. Fuckin' Dittoheads.
I am just dumbfounded by the level of hostility on talk radio, both from the personalities, the guests, and the callers. Just this seething rage, forever going on about how our way of life is being attacked by the gays, the liberals, Mr. and Mrs. Beelezebub Clinton, the women, the coloreds, the Islamofacistextremistfreedomhaters, the ACLU, Nancy Pelosi, etc. Just a huge persecution complex on these guys."Of course it hurts. You're getting fucked by an elephant."0 -

When I turn the channel I hear more conservatism ... keep turning, here's some illiterate slobs babbling about sports ... turn a little more, there's a preacher telling me I'm going to hell and begging for money ... keep turning, still more conservatism ... and THEN, if it's the right time of day, I might hear from someone on the left.
Sports radio annoys me almost as much as talk radio, and I'm a sports fan. Many similarities between the two. Personal attacks, yelling over people, general shit-talking, etc.
This is kind of off topic, but the other night on The Daily Show, they ran a clip of conservative talk radio personality/Fox News babbler Laura Ingraham saying that the American people support torture as an interrogation tactic. How did she know this? It's pretty obvious, really. See, America loves the spy drama series 24, in which Donald Sutherland's son uses torture and threats of violence to extract information from terror suspects. If America loves this show, than Americans must be okay with torture.
I swear to God, she said this on Fox News and she was serious."Of course it hurts. You're getting fucked by an elephant."0 -

I know, the poor left have no voice.0 -
Wow, gotta love the amount of footage used. Basically everything was backed up by video.
Glad someone finally had the nerve to do something like this, with all of the 'blame Clinton' stuff going around for several weeks now on every news channel.
I hope the terror tactics aimed at him doesn't stop him from saying things that people don't want to hear.0 -

Heehee ... I've never listened to Laura Ingraham's show, but I'm going to have to tune in now! Is she that funny all the time?"Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity." ~ MLK, 19630 -
jlew24asu wrote:this is what I dont get. it's ok for MSNBC to bash bush, but if Fox news says anything about a liberal they are "conservative hit men". can we all admit most media outlets lean, kinda far, to the left namely CNN, MSNBC NY Times, BBC
HA! Conservatives always say media liberal bias, especially when the facts support the left. faux "news" has fixed that little problem. simply eliminate the facts and fill the space with conjecture.
You want rock solid proof there's not a left leaning bias in media? I submit the democratic hearings held recently where REPUBLICAN generals from the iraq war testified to how badly the iraq war is going. C-span 3 covered it, merely a blip on the radar on tmost major news sources.
I think the same right wing hack that came up with "left leaning media" also thought up "fair and balanced".0 -
hippiemom wrote:Sports radio might even be worse. I'm not trying to insult sports fans here, I know some brilliant people who could talk about sports all day long, but the sports fans that call in to radio shows, sheesh! What do you suppose the average IQ is there? I'm thinking it's around 73. These folks make the dittoheads sound like a bunch of Einsteins.

Sports radio from Chicago is so unbelievably annoying.
On one hand, I find people like Laura Ingraham amusing/entertaining, but on the other hand, it scares me when I think about the fact that millions of people apparently listen to and agree with her and people like her.
Have you been watching Studio 60?"Of course it hurts. You're getting fucked by an elephant."0 -

Thank You your the only person that actually got why I posted this. Instead everyone goes on a "their bashing Bush" rampage without actually watching the video and seeing for yourself how they completely contradict themselves.
Condi Rice "There was no plan left for us". Oh yes there fucking was and it's right there to prove it. I'm not here to bash Bush or bash Clinton they both have flaws and make mistakes. i think it's important to point out the outright lying that is going on with this administration is at levels we've never seen before. This isn't about Clinton incase no one has noticed he isn't in office anymore. The government documents and reports prove that this administration has failed at conducting the war on terrorism and continuing this course is much more damaging to our security than the state we were in before 9/11. To just say "Democrats don't understand how to wage the war on terrorism" is a childish form of argument. Ok, maybe they don't hypothetically then what do we have to choose from Those that "don't get it" or those that are "doing it all wrong"
Take real good look at the 9/11 report, the recently released NIE report, Downing Street memos, etc.
Also, those people who think this adminstration is conservative need to watch the HBO documentary on Barry Goldwater and find out what the difference between conservatism and neo-conservatism really is.Mansfield Sept 16,98'

Yup - if we could get past the left-wing/right-wing stuff...
This is pure, documented fact. I challenge anyone to debunk the evidence presented in Olbermann's report.0
