I'm 39, been into the boys since a old work mate lent me a video of Unplugged and was instantly hooked. This was around the time of the release of V's. In my opinion my only downside is 1. Not seeing them enough Live. 2. Not Joining 10c when I should have and 3. Not being Internet savvy enough to realise all the great stuff from them available in other means. This however I am still learning and its great fun, they are great fun and have given me so much hope regards to music and life. My Mrs and Children realise my intense onsession for them which from my point of view is great because they understand. Its nice to see someone from the outside admire them for what they really are other than me. That to me is what their music sometimes represents, it touches people and they can admire it without getting to close. I can honestly say; no other band do it for me like Pearl Jam do.
"First of all, there’s the palpable camaraderie and good feeling you get from the entire band as they smile and nod at each other, and huddle together in various formations throughout the show --- They look like they really like each other. They look stoked!"

He never said he was a rabid fan at the age of 4, he said he was aware of PJ when Daughter came out and let me tell you one thing, you ask any of my kids who sings that song (inset whatever PJ title here) and they'll tell you in no time "Pearl Jam", my 3 year old knows the lyrics and sings to World Wide Suicide, Inmortality and Comatose....

That's what happens when you have hip parents I guess, kids get into bands sooner than anyone wants to believe :D

I kind of like to think of myself as hip as possible when it comes to where I live, the people around us, and the opportunies we give our two kids, BUT... you have got to be THE VERY HIPPEST parent!!! We live in Wyoming, total population of the entire state is half a million, but each of my kids have already been to two shows, Denver and Hawaii, and have been lucky enough to experience other trips to other cities and other cultures that they could not experience here. My 15 year old son loves PJ and has for a couple of years now. He plays a Fender Strat and does a damn fine job on alot of Mr McCready's stuff. My girl is 12 and she likes PJ but has other interests as well, her fav songs are Man of the Hour and The Kids are Alright. Both of them are very talented in everything they do and are very musically inclined which makes it even better to be able to have PJ as a group of guys to love and look up to.

Oops, back to the original question:
    I was born in 1969
was really into the hair metal and Seattle sounds
bought Ten when it was new, wasnt hot off the shelf, but I think it was only a few, maybe 6 months old
bought every other album when they came out, remember though that I had to get to a city that has a record store... except maybe No Code, Benaroya, RVM.
Spent what I thought was ALOT of money on a handful of boots when they were first released from the fan club
    Really loved Riot Act
Got real PJ infection with the latest album, posters, etc.

Missed the chance to see them close to me (Casper Wyoming, Park City, Salt Lake City) because I was raising the next generation and was too broke

    Peace

Well, today happens to be my 33rd birthday.

    I was born in 1974.
I first heard of Pearl Jam in 1992, when I was 17 and in 12th grade.
I first saw them in 1995, right before I was 21 (11/6/95 in San Diego)
The last time I saw them was October 2006 at Bridge School.

Happy Birthday to you & to me I turned 30 today. :D

I do not remember the first time I heard a Pearl Jam song.
In 1992 I was 8 years old, and my big sister was in high school. This is around the time I began to realize that the best way to get big sis's attention is by being as annoying as possible.
One of the most annoying this you can do to a teen? Make fun of her big celebrity crush. In other words, I spent about three years of my childhood making fun of Eddie Vedder.

Yeah, I came around eventually, lol :D
