Not if he wants to win. I don't think he is even close to wrapping up the nomination either. Hilary and Edwards are still alive.
However, if he gets the nomination, I would think he'd have to select someone from "The Real America", meaning Edwards or possibly Richardson. I'd like it to be Biden, but the smart money would be Edwards, the fair-haired boy from North Carolina.
BTW, the next president is Huckabee.I cannot come up with a new sig till I get this egg off my face.0 -

I think Obama will win because he'll inspire people who wouldn't normally vote to vote.0 -
It's way, way too early, to state the obvious. I wonder what Iowa's batting average is when it comes to this?? how many Iowa winners go on to be their party's nominee?0

Just what we need. A President who believes the Earth is 6000 years old. Will Ric Flair be Sec. of State?0 -

Lets face it. Whether or not Obama makes a good president, this country is hungry for change.0 -

Actually, it will be David Herman, because at that point everyone will realize we're all living inside the movie Idiocracy
for real.Progress is not made by everyone joining some new fad,
and reveling in it's loyalty. It's made by forming coalitions
over specific principles, goals, and policies.

i was at a friend's house and we were looking up info like this, so i can't quote the site directly, but it said Iowa's "batting average" was .600 which isn't too bad. but i don't think there's any way to call this yet, especially for the dems. it's just too close right now.0 -

Oprah.
She'll drop Steadman and they'll mang like wild bunnies at every opportunity in a scandalous affair.
Tabloid investors will get immeasurably rich and take over, and the stage work for the idiocracy dream in the US will be complete and solidified beyond what it already is.

Not sure about party nominees, but Woodward said on CNN tonight that 3 of the last 4 presidents have not won Iowa - Regan, Bush Sr, and Clinton. Clinton actually had something like 3% in Iowa."If no one sees you, you're not here at all"0 -
I don't know a huge amount about hte issues the candidates are riding on (I'm not following it that closely at all) but this morning on the radio they had a small segment on the Iowa thing and played a bit of Obama's speech, and a bit of the winning Republican guys speech, and I gotta say Obama seems to have charisma coming out of his ass. that can count for a hell of a lot.I'll Ride The Wave Where It Takes Me0

Huckabee is a baptist minister. I'm no theologian, but I believe baptists are fairly liberal when it comes to many social issues, much more liberal than say catholics, mormons, or evangelicals.
The guy seems pretty genuine to me. If the general election were Obama vs. Huckabee, I'd have a hell of a time choosing. Unless, of course, my main man RP is running as a 3rd party candidate, then the decision is easy."Worse than traitors in arms are the men who pretend loyalty to the flag, feast and fatten on the misfortunes of the nation while patriotic blood is crimsoning the plains." -- Abraham Lincoln0 -

No Carl Everett (Former ballplayer who said ""God created the sun, the stars, the heavens and the earth, and then made Adam and Eve. The Bible never says anything about dinosaurs. You can't say there were dinosaurs when you never saw them. Somebody actually saw Adam and Eve. No one ever saw a Tyrannosaurus rex.") http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carl_EverettI cannot come up with a new sig till I get this egg off my face.0 -

We could do a lot worse than Obama...as long as he doesn't pick a turd like Edwards for a running mate. All the world will be your enemy, Prince with a thousand enemies, and whenever they catch you, they will kill you. But first they must catch you, digger, listener, runner, prince with the swift warning. Be cunning and full of tricks and your people shall never be destroyed.0 -

I hope not. The democrats' fiscal policies just point to how power hungry they are and how much control they want to have over all of us. I do not want to be under such an oppressive regime. The only people we should try to get even with...
...are those who've helped us.
Right 'round the corner could be bigger than ourselves.0 -
What if he picked Ron Paul as a running mate?
That'd be interesting. Liberal morals, conservative economics..... hmm.
not saying this would happen... but it'd be interesting.
I just wonder how long before the hillary camp gillooly's the Obama team ala Bush Rove to McCain in the SC primary 2000.My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.0 -
