I really don't get how people who clearly hate women, and have such messed up views about them, can be pearl jam fans.

I honestly haven't noticed it that much. Is it really that prevalent?

I think it's stuff that a lot of people pass off as being jokes or just immaturity or boys will be boys, whathaveyou. But it still not only hurts me but boggles my mind.

A lot of immature views maybe, but I'm not sure if I'd say sexist (although I'm sure there are some)... do you have a specific example in mind?
I smile, but who am I kidding...

I think you get random idiots anywhere (I'm to the point where not much about people boggles me anymore - I've just accepted that they do a lot of unbelievable stuff), but I really haven't noticed it being something that's pervasive on these boards.

I'm sorry it hurts you, though...

    I really haven't noticed it either? :)

i think it's more sarcasm and poking fun than it is truly sexism...but i haven't noticed it too much at all.

i havent noticed this problem around here either. it does seem the users round here can be a raunchy bunch but ive never seen anything mean, demeaning, or sexist.

in any case, here's the post that inspired this thread:

the post you quoted sounds rude but not especially sexist. seems that chipboy was having an argument with a female poster and couldn't come up with anything more clever than that, so he used it. he must have been losing the debate.

but what does that MEAN, exactly? just wondering. i mean, are you assuming that because the person you're talking to can't punch you in the face if you say something rude, then it's okay to be rude? i've always wondered what people mean when they say that "it's the internet!" like "whoo-hoo, let's just act like obnoxious assholes, it's cyberspace after all!"

i think you should treat each other the same way here that you would in person. call me kooky. :p

I must be just a dumb guy because I missed the whole debate.

its interesting how he did think he was doing all the screwing though. as if there was no girl there.

i seriously don't think that was intended towards all girls or women in general.....i think it was just that particular, individual situation with that girl.

for those kinda of things usually both sexes have to get to the point of fucking "senselessly". its such a mutual situation.
    I need to finish writing.

there was no debate. did you read the thread? she was asking about feeling off and being miserable so we were all tossing out suggestions. i dont think her being female had anything to do with the suggestion... minus the movie tie-in. if it had been me it probly woulda been the same post only with a brokeback mountain reference. ;)
