now, you heard nothing from me, but I was talking to a chap tonight, who's off to one of the Sydney shows. Anyhoo, he said there was a slight possibility they still may play NZ, as his gf works in Corporate travel or something, and they were trying to tee something up.
I know nothing else, but I wonder...

Bit late now isn't it??? I see it as my own fault anyway that I just didn't cash up and go to Australia. Oh well, next album.
Its been 8 years, but I still believe...PJ in NZ 06!
"No matter how cold the winter, theres a springtime ahead'
I was sooooooo hoping the boys would come and play here at home. there's something so special about knowing they have spent afew days in the cities we live and breathe and grew up in.
TOTALLY hearing you. Although I'm catching them over in Sydney, I'm still disappointed they won't be making it here, something that my friends can't quite understand ("Get over it! You're seeing them in Aussie - what the hell does it matter where they play?!")
Hey Bazzer, definitely keen to catch up in Melbourne. I'm going to Melbourne 1, 2, and 3 with some of my mates from Welli and my girlfriend. They are going with me to 1 and 3, but nobody's keen for the second ticket I have for the second show..................................(note the extended pause).........
I'd love to take your spare ticket, but no way my gf will let me go without her! I still haven't decided if I'l go to Melb 3. I might just try and get tickets on the night, outside the venue for cheap. I'm also trying to get tickets to that charity gig in Melb, but I've been unlucky so far...
So the Aussie tour starts tonight. To all who are going have fun. But don't too much fun cause some Kiwi's have been left behind. Anyway make sure Ed knows how dissapointed we are. Rock on Pearl Jam and bring on the next tour. Hopefully Vector fucking Area will be finished by then.
PS: Wonder how many Radio/TV interviews the boys will be doing. Are we gonna see Ed on Rove Live? As much as spoon Rove is I would watch if Ed was on.
EDIT: My calender is still on October. Tour starts Tuesday.
Well what can I say ...
I flew to Brisbane from Auckland at great expense to see P.J. last Friday 10th Nov....
The Kings of Leon were great and I am glad there were plenty of fans inside watching them while the rest were struggling to decide between the very expensive & the very average P.J.merchandise !!!!
I didn't buy the crappyT.shirt but regreted it as soon as I got to the airport & saw some lucky buggers wearing them proudly !!!! I wanted to shout "hey, I was there too ..." but was such a tight ass ...!!!!!
About the concert ...
Why the hell did they need so many breaks ??? come on, why would they need to leave the stage every 1/2 hour or so ??? I didn't get it and felt like yelling "Give me my money back" !!!!!
Did anyone else go ?
What did you think of it , I mean REALY let's be frank here ...I feel like I was had !!!!!
I must say however that there was a highlight for me...when they played "Better man" ... being a woman myself I was touched to see men & women of all ages singing as one...the only magic moment for me ...
By the way, I even left the concert before it was over ....a 1st for me.
P.S. I also did not find amusing when Eddie criticised the Sydney fans...they were probably feeling as cheated as me !

Your ungreatfullness shocks and discusts me! You are one of the luck few who can actually afford to take time off work/study and afford the flight over and yet you still complian. And hello. Thoses breaks are for the encores. Next time don't complain. Just give me your tickets.

Are you kidding me? You left the show early?!
Talk about ungratefullness!? Leaving the show early?
I went to the shows in Brisbane... i have gotta be honest.. both were top notch shows.. both setlists were good, i got both tour posters (way cool)
not to mention nearly getting kicked out of the 2nd night for being so drunk, and falling down the stairs... but realized i better get my act together... didnt want to miss the show... not to mention ruin the show for anyone else.. so i behaved...
You are a lucky New Zealander to see Pearl Jam, hell ill even take it one step further... you are a lucky human being to be able to see them, its a privilage to see them... and i will always think that, no matter how many shows ive been to / will go to...
Fingers still crossed for a NZ tour in the future...
Why is Auckland / New Zealand printed in the list of cities on the back of the 2006 Program/Tour Book I bought at the Sydney 1?
Sydney, Australia - March 12, 1998; Sydney, Australia - February 14, 2003; Sydney, Australia - November 8, 2006; Sydney, Australia - November 25, 2006; Brisbane, Australia - November, 2009; Gold Coast, Australia - January, 2014, Gold Coast, Australia - November 2024
i SAW THAT TOO AND ASKED WTF??? BUT THEY DIDN'T HAVE AN ANSWER FOR ME
How stupid. As if the Kiwis aren't disappointed enough already .. then they have to rub salt into their wounds with a stupid mistake.

I think my computer must be broken or something cause a just read a crazy post ripping into Brisbane gig. You can't be serious!
The reality folks, was somewhat different let me assure you!
Brssy 1 was 135 minutes, 28 songs with the standard two encore breaks of short length, Ed talked a bit but most of the 135 mins was full on. I was lucky enough to be in the 4th row centre. The set list speaks for itself and the band were in an awesome mood as were the crowd (well most of us apparently!). 2nd encore was as good as it gets (World Wide Suicide, State of Love & Trust, Black, Alive, Rockin in the Free World, Yellowledbetter).
Basically impossible to top the show but they gave it a crack on night 2 with another intense 28 song set throwing in gems likePorch, Crazy Mary, Gone, Wishlist.
I felt so lucky to have been there after an 8 year gap and I held up my banner letting the band know "COMEBACK TO NZ", was hoping to pass it on to anyone going to later shows so if you are going get a banner up and keep the hope alive!
Sorry but had to read this again as it was hard to believe, you've got to be taking the piss right??? A ploy to get the thread up and running again!? No real fan would type such bullshit, slag off everything and then regret having the t-shirt??
Also for a few other responses, the tour book was done for the entire tour and printed when they obviously planned to come here pre venue issues, the veteran thread members have been keeping tabs on all this.

yeah i was at brisbane 1. from your comments it sounds like we were at different concerts. though i will admit the merchandise was disappointing considering they have an artist in the band.
now please tell me why as a woman, you were so touched by both men and women singing betterman? you do know what that song is about right?

Unless you were dying or about to give birth I can't image why anyone who considers themselves a fan would want to leave any concert early, let alone a PJ concert you've flown overseas for!
Brisbane got Yellowledbetter closes both nights ... worth the admission price alone.

yeah, but it's the individual's choice still. i forked out the money for the ticket. basically in my book that says i am in control of when i leave and if i stay, if for whatever reason i choose to do so.

So, what's up everyone? Also, whats the deal with the fan numbers for kiwis? And why do all the tenclub members have xxx at the end of their membership numbers?
Just curious. Hope all is well with you fellow kiwi's and associates.

Nice work... Glad someone was representing (was gonna take along a sign myself but was way too far back for it to be see). Doubt they'll ever make it back, but at least they'll know they're wanted.
