The hate in that bolded line is making me leave this thread uncomfortably. No swearing or anything, I'll just say that I really, really find that kind of mindset offensive.
Pj&t, don't leave. I'm quite sure that ols wasn't in any way advocating hate.
He's really not that kind of guy. Perhaps he's not all embracing of homosexuality but it would be far better if you stayed and attempted to discuss this issue calmly. I'm quite sure that even if you don't agree you can come to a better understanding of each others pov. Leaving offended will solve nothing. Stay?NOPE!!!

that said, the rest clears up a few things. you ought not be so cryptic. and you ought to write a book if even half that stuff is true. or hire me to write it for you... cos you may be wealthy but im not yet
i've got other offers to write my biography and a woman in GA has the rough draft and i'm waiting for the offer. $$$$$. she thinks it'll make a good movie with my songs as the soundtrack. i think she's full of bs because i know people that have been through much more than me. i think she just leads a sheltered life.
the bands name is private because this is an annonimous forum. i attended several schools because i moved around alot. if i had to recall where i studied tort; family; etc; i don't think i could remember. that part of my life ended with my surgery. because i was working full time; i only studied one section at a time. thus; i cannot give you an honest answer without listing several schools.0 -

Pj&t a few pages back in this thread we talked about generational differences in terms of acceptance of homosexuality. I don't think that ols is trying to be horrible or hateful. It's just a statement of opinion. The world as he sees it based on his generational upbringing.NOPE!!!

people that tell me how i should think and feel really piss me off. especially hypocrites. those who preach pro gay issues yet condemn others like polygamists or others. roland posted the link below on another thread. his comment was I DIDN'T REALIZE THIS WAS SO POPULAR or something to that effect. when people are willing to accept EVERYONE; i'm more than happy to listen to them. until then they're just hypocrites.

I understood your intention but I can also understand how some might find what to you was a throw away comment, offensive or hateful.
But if I remember correctly a VERY long time ago we discussed homosexuals as parents on a thread and I'm fairly certain that you agreed that good homosexual parents are better than bad heterosexual ones. Or am I confused?
Anyway for the sake of clarification, if your best restaraunt customer, who is gay, decided to start a family even if it didn't thrill you I'm quite sure you wouldn't be outright rude or offensive to him right?NOPE!!!

my problem is what the kids will go through. the gay parents i've seen or had personal experience with were married; then divorced to go with a gay lover. those kids got beat up and made fun of. the kids grew up hating the gay parent and gays in general. that is my objection.0 -

Yes and it's bad. But these things do happen in heterosexual relationships too. Not exactly the same, but certainly bad things do happen.
I think if there is more widespread acceptance of homosexuality and homosexual parenting that eventually we will see less and less of this kind of marriage breakdown. Hopefully gay men will know and understand themselves better and will not spend years living a lie as heterosexual family men needing to eventually break out.NOPE!!!

if you're gay; and you try to tell me how to think and feel; and keep pushing the issue; i will hate you. not because you're gay; but because you're trying to tell me how to think and feel. i don't allow anyone to do that. it's an invasion of my person.
if you were gay and someone kept telling you how it was wrong and how you should think and feel; you'd get pissed off about it too.
i don't think stupid people should breed either so it isn't just directed at gays.0 -
it's ironic how many atheists talked about religion for an entire week.

onelongsong wrote:i'm pretty much against marriage in general. i heard on the news that the divorce rate is now at 80%. my solution is another thread entirely.
if gays are allowed to marry than polygamists should receive the same rights. otherwise you're just crying discrimination out of one side of your mouth and discriminating out of the other side. if you do a little research; you will find that the bill allowing gay marriage was shot down as soon as someone pointed out that polygamists deserve equal rights too.
now; how is that reason religiously related in any way?
As far as polygamy is concerned, we've gone round about this before, I'm not particularly in the mood to do it again. To briefly recap, I don't think there's any logical progression from allowing two people to marry one another to allowing large groups of people to intermarry however they like."Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity." ~ MLK, 19630 -

hahaha, cos calm discussion has gotten us all so many places here historically. nobody's changing anyone's mind. what good is him staying to discuss going to do? they will go round in circles over the same old tired material yet again. i do it cos i get a kick out of it. if it makes him uncomfortable, why shouldn't he leave? you think he's going to change ols's mind or vice versa?0 -

this is flat out bullshit. eventually, a given school awards you a degree. like i said, taking 20 different classes doesn't magically award you a jd. that degree comes from somewhere. why not just be honest and admit that you never actually finished and got your degree? or that you never actually went to a real law school and you actually bought your degree online...
an honest answer would be the name of the school on the juris doctor degree you have. but you don't actually have one do you?0 -

so did band geeks. so did nerdy straight a students, poor kids, kids that were ugly, kids that were fat, kids that were stupid. kids are cruel and pick on each other for many many reasons. putting an end to gay parenting isn't going to stop that.0
