Just wondering. Why do some of you decide to use the invisible function? Are you planning sneak attacks and want to maintain some weird element of surprise?

:D

some people want to keep a low profile but still check out what people are talking about. (well, guess that's called lurking. :D)

I've used the invisibility mode a couple of times when I've been tired of the Pit and just wanted to check my PM's without being "bothered" by people, who'd see me online.

  • Why worry about what other people are doing anyways?
If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you.

    he's 'wondering' not 'worrying'

oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

I use it because it makes me feel like a stealthy assassin. You don't see me coming till it's too late.

I use it, so that when i am bored at work, i can spy on 'new members' who just joined a day or so ago, and watch them do their adorable 'new posts' acting all 'ZOMG, i'm on the intarweb and i never posted here before'. it's especially fun watching the 'new' obama haters, and quite entertaining checking out what threads these 'new members' will go straight too and read. so predictable. it's also easy to work out who they were before they got banned by what they are reading!

actually, i'll answer your question properly;). i use it becase i don't feel i have to contribute to anything unless i want to. sometimes you might be participating in a thread and not want to answer straight away, and take some time to think about what you want to contribute, and if you can't see me, then you won't think where is her damn reply. i rarely get pm's, unless it's someone wanting me to teach them guitar, so it's not to hide from my fans, i assure you! :)
  • because there are posters who scan the "users online" section, and if you had been in a debate with them previously, they will say "Oh... _____ is online and didnt answer my point, that must mean im RIGHT and they are WRONG!!"

I sometimes use it, just because it's there. Sheer boredom is my sole motivator.

Sometimes I use it because I like to just read, not be disturbed by PM's and not post... 'lurk' if you will...
Also, sometimes, due to everyone at work knowing I post on here, I have to use it when I keep the Pit running in the background behind my work related software for the fulfillment of I don't know... say, sneaky posts? :o:p
Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...

... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.

I use it because my computer is next to the window and I don't want the people who walk by to see me.

I use it because it stops Last activity time and date showing up on your profile and it also means that people can't see what you're doing when you're online. Not that I particularly care but there are a couple of people that I'd prefer not to have that information. :)
    NOPE!!!
