If you believe that abortion should be legal then yes you should also support the parent's decision to abort the child because it may be gay."When one gets in bed with government, one must expect the diseases it spreads." - Ron Paul0 -
depends on your own personal morality, doesn't it?
right now, a woman may choose abortion simply b/c she does not want to complete the pregnancy, so while some may find that morally repugnant alone....and other factors, which also may be considered repugnant....would still be viable options. people abort for mental disabilities such as downs syndrome - and i am in NO way comparing homosexuality to a disability - just point out that having 'criteria' for abortion already exists. if abortion is legal, as it should be, it's up to the pregnant girl/women to decide. period.Stay with me...

Motives are irrelevant in this case. The law is the law.
I can certainly see how this thread came about; "oh, I know. I'll pit those liberals' support of abortion against their love for gay rights. How clever; that'll get 'em." Good job.0 -
Should homosexuality be tested for in unborn babies? That seems to be the bigger question for me.
I am pro-choice btw.A human being that was given to fly.

If there was a reason, it was you.

Fair enough, but do "you" consider it wrong to abort a child because it's gay?0 -

No, actually it was a bill presented to congress that put forth the idea. But, thanks for the unnecessary rhetoric.0 -
Is it wrong to abort a straight child if a no gay gene is found?
Same stupid question. I would think the answer would be the same from each person to both questions.0 -
It is an interesting question, especailly because of the fact that it would seem that people who are very anti-gay would also be very anti-abortion. Then again most people who feel that strongly would probably not believe in the accuracy of a "gay gene" test to begin with.0

my personal morality is just that....my own...personal...morality. i do not discuss such things on public message boards. just how i am, like to keep em guessing.
honestly, i think i made myself clear: it is up to the mother. it's not my place to make that judgement call and since i will never be getting pregnant, it's not something i would ever have to consider. i may thing it's the wrong choice for me to make...but since i don't have to make it...i won't say what's right or wrong for another woman.
wilds...you pretty much hit it spot on.
better question - if a gay gene WERE discovered, do you think there may be a rise in abortions amongst those on the religious right?
as i don't have a problem with abortion, whatever criteria a woman chooses is her own.
*edit - kel....yea, exactly what i was thinking.......Stay with me...

I am pro choice but I personally think that it is wrong to abort any child, unless there is evidence of severe birth defects or health issues. That is my morality, but I don't feel comfortable legislating what I feel is right or wrong. My whole life

OK, saveup.
Nevetheless, the law is the law. If doctors are not required to demand motives when performing an abortion, than the question is moot.0 -

That's about the smartest reply to this quite stupid question.0 -
I'm Pro Choice,
However...I strongly feel that anyone who would abort a baby because it was found to have a gay gene should do the human race a very big favor and abort themselves while their at it.
Thank you

Would this even be an issue? Don't most ultra religious politicians believe homosexuality is a "lifestyle choice" and not biological?0

I can think very poorly of particular people because of the particular reasons they choose abortion, but I will not support legislation denying the right to choose an abortion. Just like I think poorly of people who decide to have children "Because it sounds like fun!" I wouldn't legislate against their shallowness. I just wouldn't associate with them.

It's wrong, regardless... so of course, it's also wrong in this scenario.0 -

Yea, we're all staying up late at night guessing what your personal morality is. lol
No offense, it's great if you contribute to the conversation, but if your response is "I won't respond with my opinion",... then I don't see a reason for you to post on an opinion-based message board. It's kinda the point of being here.0
