In a year they could pick a hobo off the street and get him elected, they give us a black man and a disliked woman, WTF. I have no problem with having a black man or woman as president, but is America really going to do this? How do they always fuck up? Why can't America elect on the issues instead of the personality like a stupid popularity contest? In social programs advocates vs. feed the corporations bigots - the dems would always win. As long as it was a WMA, they could dress up a homeless man and win this year.

im not sure i follow. obama will probably gain more votes due to people feeling guilty or paranoid of being called racist than he would lose to actual racists
hillary... she's hated for being a clinton. i don't think she's seen as a woman. jst a clinton. she doesn't stand a chance in a general election. 0 -

The ultimate fuck-up will be when the "smokey room" of the Democrats finds a way to "reward" Hil-Billy with the nomination despite the people voting for Obama....it will be just like 2000 again.

Let me get this straight. a "hobo off the street" is capable and worthy of election, but a Black guy isn't? Did i just read this? Please tell me i didn't."When all your friends and sedatives mean well but make it worse... better find yourself a place to level out."0 -
Maybe two years ago...but after the performance of the Democratic congress....not likely.reversedarwinism wrote:In a year they could pick a hobo off the street and get him elected,All the world will be your enemy, Prince with a thousand enemies, and whenever they catch you, they will kill you. I partly agree with this. What I see is this: whoever wins the democratic ticket SHOULD easily become the next president. Watch out for the republicans attempting to hijack their third straight term in the white house.0 -

I'm saying People are way to optimistic to think anybody but a WMA will get the presidency. Sad, very sad, but I fear this is true. I would love to think we've progressed, but I'm not so optimistic.bombs, dropping down, please forgive our hometown0 -

maybe i would have said that a year ago, but not now.
Bush's legacy may be that he was so universally hated that he got a liberal minority or woman elected president.0 -

Obama would beat McCain."When all your friends and sedatives mean well but make it worse... better find yourself a place to level out."0 -
I watched the Texas Democrat Debate last night. Not sure what to think. I never liked Hillary, but don't really care for Obama either. John McCain sucks as well. One day, the NY Times endorses him (McCain) - and now they are "accusing" him of faulty play. Go figure. Who knows???? I'm a Social worker (and a registered Republican....oxy moron....I RE-ALIZE!) I also voted for Charlie the Anti-Crist, too, for Gov of Florida. Go Figure. Obviously my decision-making skills suck when it comes to politics. I don't really care for any of the Presidential Candidates. What does one do with that? Please don't answer. You're totally right. Those record breaking turnouts in the Democratic primaries are just a fluke. The fact that Democratic contests have only been won by a black man or a woman is probably just a fluke. The fact that the ultimate white male candidate, John Edwards, lived in Iowa basically for 4 years with a very populous message, didn't win a state and dropped out before Super Tuesday is a fluke. A black man winning easily in the deep south is probably a fluke as well. Yeah, you are probably right.0 -

Are you sure about that?
Obama vs McCain and Repubs WILL find a to make him win. Not much in this country has changed and isn't going to in the near future, especially if we continue to let it happen.

Perhaps you should visit my favorite political news site, TPM Election Central. They have poll results that indicate Obama can beat McCain in quite a number of states.....whereas Hillary only ties with, or loses to, McCain.
Also, pollster.com is a good website for studying up-to-date poll results.

You do realize where the majority of black people live in this country???ledvedderman wrote:A black man winning easily in the deep south is probably a fluke as well.
P.S. Not a fluke.......I could round-up 25 Obama supporters for every one Clinton or Edwards supporter round these here parts.....and Obama won Alabama handily. All the world will be your enemy, Prince with a thousand enemies, and whenever they catch you, they will kill you. This might be so in Primaries however when it gets down to it and it's about electing a President things changes quickly. I have a hard time seeing that trend continuing for the Presidency.
We shall see, either way that person has a HELL OF A JOB in front of them. I've never seen so many people struggling to make ends meet while a much smaller % is doing quite well.

Obama will be the next president. Believe that.
NO THIRD TERM!!!!!Further back and forth a wave will break on me, today...0 -
If Obama wins - he will never see a SECOND term let alone a FIRST! Unless he starts defining some of his policies. I know many on this "board" have a college education - some with Bachelors, some with masteres, and some with PhD's or a licensure of some kind. So with college in mind - and I don't know about everyone -what is the deal with Obama's cut on college tuition if one will perform some type of community service? JESUS! All of this sounds great - in theory! If I would have been 18 or 19 without a care in the world. But I was in my 20's going to college, working, and raising a family. Where in the hell would I have squeezed in community service, too? I'll tell ya where - when I actually completed my degree. And have been doing it ever since. And I'll tell all of you younger people - It's not all "wonderful and life is a peach, and helping man to succeed can- in most instances, more than not be a huge slap in the face, and life for some, is just downright UGLY. Period. The end. One can attempt to change the world - but not everyone in the world is willing to change. I am not trying to be a complete "buzz kill." i think im a serious contender for the most pessimistic and cynical person on this board, and even i dont think this is anywhere near the case. this will not be an issue.0
