    I knew that this organization was real, but I never really got how it worked. Is it just a bunch of perverted old men saying how they love boys? I mean, what could they possibly do, what their association is about is illegal, it's rape if the "boy" is 16 or under. What could they possibly talk about at meetings???

    These are the things my messed up mind thinks about when I hear shit like this...

    The North American Man/Boy Love Association (NAMBLA) is a New York City and San Francisco-based unincorporated organization that opposes the use of age as the sole criterion for deciding whether minors can legally engage in sexual relations. NAMBLA defends what it asserts to be the right of minors to explore their sexuality on a much freer basis. It has resolved to "end the oppression of men and boys who have freely chosen mutually consenting relationships", and calls for "the adoption of laws that both protect children from unwanted sexual experiences and at the same time leave them free to determine the content of their own sexual experiences."[1] NAMBLA's webpage states that 'NAMBLA does not provide encouragement, referrals or assistance for people seeking sexual contacts' and that it does not "engage in any activities that violate the law . . . [or] advocate that anyone else should [violate the law]."[2]

    There is an annual gathering in New York City and monthly meetings around the country.[3] In the early 1980s, NAMBLA was reported to have had over 300 members, and was supported by such noted figures as Allen Ginsberg.[4] Since then, the organization has kept membership data private, but an undercover FBI investigation in 1995 discovered that there were 1,100 people on the rolls.[4] It is the largest organization in the umbrella group IPCE[5] (formerly "International Pedophile and Child Emancipation").[6]

    Since 1995, public criticism and law enforcement infiltration have heavily impaired the organization. Its national headquarters now consists of little more than a private mail box service in San Francisco, and inquiries are rarely responded to. It has essentially ceased to exist. Some reports state that the group no longer has regular national meetings and few local monthly meetings.[7]

    I kind of sort of see what they are getting at. I mean ephibophelia and pedophelia are paraphilias that people don't exactly choose to have. They are lifelong sexual orientations. Yet, I don't agree with legalization. But I think we should research better treatment than lobotomization.

    The extent to which pedophilia occurs is not known with any certainty. Some studies have concluded that at least a quarter of all adult men may have some feelings of sexual arousal in connection with children.[29] Freund et al. (1972) remarked that "with males who have no deviant object preferences, clearly positive sexual reactions occur to [nude] 6- to 8-year old female children."[30]

    In 1989 Briere and Runtz conducted a study on 193 male undergraduate students concerning pedophilia. Of the sample, 21% acknowledged sexual attraction to some small children; 9% reported sexual fantasies involving children; 5% admitted masturbating to these fantasies; and 7% conceded some probability of actually having sex with a child if they could avoid detection and punishment. These sexual interests were associated with negative early sexual experiences, masturbation to pornography, self-reported likelihood of raping a woman, frequent sex partners, and attitudes supportive of sexual dominance over women. The authors also noted that "given the probable social undesirability of such admissions, [one could] hypothesize that the actual rates ... were even higher."[31]

    A study by Hall et al. of Kent State University found that 32.5% of their sample — 80 adult male volunteers, 20% of whom reported some attraction to prepubescent girls — exhibited sexual arousal to heterosexual pedophilic stimuli that equaled or exceeded their arousal to the adult stimuli.[32]

    This is something that the ACLU (or one of the organizations that fights for "freedom") defends as freedom of speech.

    the only vocal critic I have hear and heard strongly about this disgusting group of pedophiles is Bill OReilly. One of the main reasons why I support oreilly.

    it sickens me to know this exists.

    It should be covered under freedom of speech, IMO.

    Yea, they are advocating that it's a lifelong sexual orientation, technically a paraphilia and something is obviously wrong with their brains. Although NAMBLA tries to justify it and legalize it, that I don't agree with.

    ok fine. but they should not be allowed to have this organization exist. and if any members are caught they should be jailed for a long time. and if treatment is necessary, they dont leave jail until the problem is fixed

    When I saw the Southpark episode, I thought it was just something they had made up also. Since then, I have seen them mention the organization on The Daily Show a few times. Was shocked to find out it really exists.
