At least someone reads the Ron Paul thread. :D

More people should read up on Ron Paul, or Kucinich and Gravel. If they did they would see what a politician should be instead of the crap pushed down our throats.

For what it's worth, as much as I'm giving Ron Paul "the business" in the other thread, he looks like a saint compared to those other VERY scary delusional guys running that I witnessed in the Republican debate the other night. *quivers in fear just recalling that night and those scary men*

I'm not a supporter of a large Federal government creating programs it has no business adminstering, and growing itself to unmanageable proportions. I'm not a fan of our government's role as the world police force, and the cost that entails. I'm a supporter of a government that is smaller, spends less, and therefore taxes less. I'm a supporter of anyone who protests our runaway taxation for whatever reason (anti-war, anti-social spending, anti-Federal, etc...)

    that's brilliant...well done...:)

I couldn't figure out if they were deliberately fear-mongering in order to keep the masses in line, or if they were saying the fear-mongering stuff because they believed it. *quivers again* Did I mention how scared I was/am?? Guiliani, I've paid attention to him for awhile through speeches and stuff, and imo he's deliberately fear mongering, in order to "lead".

I am really frightened when I see the landscape of American politics. It just seems that every election the choices get worse and worse and with each passing administration this country moves further and further from the ideals on which it was based on. In my opinion time is running out for the American people to reign in our government. before we know it it will be too big for us to control, which it pretty much is, and it completely implodes.

I just can't stand Guiliani!!! He reminds me of one of those people who always come in a year or so late on trends. He's still acting like it's 2003. And yes, he wants to keep that mentality of 'be very afraid of the big bad boogey man' alive as long as he can so it will benefit his bid...him being this supposed 9/11 hero guy or something.

You are talking in terms of "big". I'm not sure if you mean also "too big for it's britches". Cause in the sense of "the pride cometh before the fall", I'm kinda with you on that. I agree with you so much about losing touch with those founding ideals. It's never too late to turn things around. Especially for some good ideals.

Interstate highways are important to commerce and the economic well being of this country. I am against tax dollars being spent on pork barrell and ineptly mananged federal programs and over inflated defense budgets. I have nothing against state taxes because those funds go directly to the support of the state I live in. They go to the roads, infastructure, etc... of the state I reside in. That doesn't mean that my state's government doesn't need to trim a lot of fat. I don't believe, I will state it again since you seemed to miss it the first time I stated it, in the manditory taxation of the people. I support the Fair Tax proposal which is a voluntary tax. New Jersey, the state I live in, receives $.45 for every $1.00 in federal taxes we pay. 50% of my tax dollars go to benefit another state. Meanwhile this very state has dire needs that oit can not meet because of lack of funds.
That's all fine and dandy but by not paying federal taxes you're not supporting the programs you like. You are more concerned about your money not being wasted than helping those who need help. It's a me first attitude. It's sure not one I respect or want to see emulated by the masses.

That's fine I really don't need your respect or approval. You know little about me and how much I care about my fellow man. The money that the federal government takes from me can be put to better use by providing it to organizations who would do a better job with less money for my fellow man. So you can keep handing you money over to the government while they piss it away as they hold your hand from craddle to grave. I prefer to leave government out of my life and provide for the less fortunate by other means where I know the money is going to them and not some regime half way around the world to safe guard some corporations interest.

I really think Guiliani is a fascist. Not a Nazi, mind you, or some brutal eugenist, but a textbook fascist. Yeah, he gives me the willies.

Ed Brown says he is armed and has promised a Waco like ending, saying he will not be taken alive.

This story reminded me of a Steely Dan song......oh, and ffg. ;)

    Don't Take Me Alive

    Agents of the law
    Luckless pedestrian
    I know you're out there
With rage in your eyes and your megaphones
    Saying all is forgiven
    Mad Dog surrender
    How can I answer
A man of my mind can do anything

    I'm a bookkeeper's son
I don't want to shoot no one
Well I crossed my old man back in Oregon
    Don't take me alive
    Got a case of dynamite
I could hold out here all night
Yes I crossed my old man back in Oregon
    Don't take me alive

Can you hear the evil crowd
    The lies and the laughter
    I hear my inside
The mechanized hum of another world
    Where no sun is shining
    No red light flashing
    Here in this darkness
    I know what I've done
I know all at once who I am
The greatest obstacle to discovery is not ignorance,
    but the illusion of knowledge.

  • In America at least, paying taxes is unconstitutional. Yet we blindly follow along with it every day. Your 1040 forms clearly state that you are "volunteering" these funds. Study the IR Code book and decide for yourself. Over the years there have been various individuals and groups who have challenged these "laws". Each has been "dismissed" but never "disproven". Something to think about.
