He's either a terrorist, or simply the Saudi equivalent of Flava Flav ... Either way, err on the side of caution and take him down.

We are paranoid. So paranoid that we were easily convinced that Iraq... a country whose military had anti-aircraft batteries mounted on donkey drawn carts... was some how going to hit us with a nuclear bomb.

You can't say that is completely the fault of the American people though can you? If Canada were attacked by Muslim extremists, wouldn't you be just a tad bit leery of one running your country?
Oklahoma City was bombed by a dumbass white hick, and we didn't have any problem electing one of those. Twice!

Just sayin is all. And this is coming from a white hick.

As for the original question, I have heard Obama qualify his statements many times exactly that way, saying he's not Muslim but it wouldn't be something to be ashamed of if he was.

Bullshit...all bread is good...what are you some kind of Atkins freak!!!

My nationalistic defenses...that's a good one. Here I'm saying everyone has the same kinds of problems...even Canada.

I know Toronto is the most diverse city in the world (I think), and a lovely city at that. From what I know, it's a good example of how things should be...but it still has it's own issues...having to step over a homeless person at each intersection for 1.

Whatever dude. You can pass them easily without stepping over them. just like I do.

Anyone see Obama speak to that one jewish group the other day? (I think) He was like "I am not a Muslim" people start to laugh, then he goes on "and I have never been a muslim" few more smiles and laughs from some in the crowd. pretty sad stuff I think.

Anyway, I tend to think Obama talks white, looks black and acts like a politician.

could you please add some kid of qualifier like "Not that there's anything wrong with being Muslim!"

Seriously, doesn't anyone think it's incredibly insulting to peace-loving, law-abiding Muslim Americans when they have to hear a politician sit there and go "i'm not a muslim!" as if it's some kind of horror.

Now i know Barack Obama doesn't think it is, but I really think he needs to say something publicly like "you know, it's terribly insulting to our Muslim community when we have to answer questions like this as posited by many right wing surrogates and talking heads that suggest I must be part of something that they are clearly insinuating is a bad thing."

maybe he has but I've never heard it. nobod i know has and many in the Muslim community are upset by this and the moving of the muslim women away from him in that TV shot, whether it was done by a stafer without his knowledge or not. If he doesn't address this stuff head on, it will become a bigger problem for him as time goes on.

    #101 Being Offended
    May 28, 2008 by clander

To be offended is usually a rather unpleasant experience, one that can expose a person to intolerance, cultural misunderstandings, and even evoke the scars of the past. This is such an unpleasant experience that many people develop a thick skin and try to only be offended in the most egregious and awful situations. In many circumstances, they can allow smaller offenses to slip by as fighting them is a waste of time and energy. But white people, blessed with both time and energy, are not these kind of people. In fact there are few things white people love more than being offended.

Naturally, white people do not get offended by statements directed at white people.
In fact, they don’t even have a problem making offensive statements about other white people (ask a white person about “flyover states”). As a rule, white people strongly prefer to get offended on behalf of other people.

It is also valuable to know that white people spend a significant portion of their time preparing for the moment when they will be offended. They read magazines, books, and watch documentaries all in hopes that one day they will encounter a person who will say something offensive. When this happens, they can leap into action with quotes, statistics, and historical examples. Once they have finished lecturing another white person about how it’s wrong to use the term “black” instead of “African-American,” they can sit back and relax in the knowledge that they have made a difference.

White people also get excited at the opportunity to be offended at things that are sexist and/or homophobic. Both cases offering ample opportunities for lectures, complaints, graduate classes, lengthy discussions and workshops. All of which do an excellent job of raising awareness among white people who hope to change their status from “not racist” to “super not racist.”

Another thing worth noting is that the threshold for being offended is a very important tool for judging and ranking white people. Missing an opportunity to be outraged is like missing a reference to Derrida-it’s social death.

If you ever need to make a white person feel indebted to you, wait for them to mention a book, film, or television show that features a character who is the same race as you, then say “the representation of <insert race> was offensive and if you can’t see that, well, you need to do some soul searching.” After they return from their hastily booked trip to land of your ancestors, they will be desperate to make it up to you. At this point, it is acceptable to ask them to help you paint your house.

#75 Threatening to Move to Canada
    February 24, 2008 by clander

Often times, white people get frustrated with the state of their country. They do not like the President, or Congress, or the health care system, or the illegal status of Marijuana. Whenever they are presented with a situation that seems unreasonable to them, their first instinct is to threaten to move to Canada.

For example, if you are watching TV with white people and there is a piece on the news about that they do not agree with, they are likely to declare “ok, that’s it, I’m moving to Canada.”

Though they will never actually move to Canada, the act of declaring that they are willing to undertake the journey is very symbolic in white culture. It shows that their dedication to their lifestyle and beliefs are so strong, that they would consider packing up their entire lives and moving to a country that is only slightly different to the one they live in now.

Within white culture, it is agreed upon that if Canada had better weather it would be a perfect place.

Being aware that this information can be used quite easily to gain the trust of white people. Whenever they say, “I’m moving to Canada,” you must immediately respond with “I have relatives in Canada.”

They will then expect you to tell them about how Canada has a perfect healthcare system, legalized everything, and no crime. Though not true, it will reassure them that they are making the right choice by saying they want to move there.

But be warned, they will reference you in future conversations and possibly call on you to settle disputes about Canadian tax rates. So use this advice only if you plan to do some basic research.

Note: Canadian white people threaten to move to Europe.

Note: Europeans are unable to threaten to move anywhere.

White people love ethnic diversity, but only as it relates to restaurants.

Many white people from cities like Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York will spend hours talking about how great it is that they can get Sushi and Tacos on the same street. But then they send their kids to private school with other rich white kids, and live in neighborhoods like Santa Monica or Pacific Palisades.

But it’s important to note that white people to do not like to be called out on this fact. If you run an ethnic restaurant you can be guaranteed repeat business and huge tips if you act like your white customers are adventurous and cultured for eating food that it isn’t sandwiches or pasta.

White people will often say they are “spiritual” but not religious. Which usually means that they will believe any religion that doesn’t involve Jesus.

Popular choices include Buddhism, Hinduism, Kabbalah and, to a lesser extent, Scientology. A few even dip into Islam, but it’s much more rare since you have to give stuff up and actually go to Mosque.

Mostly they are into religion that fits really well into their homes or wardrobe and doesn’t require them to do very much.
