I can almost feel time go backwards to a more simpler day and age when looking at those pics.

    Ah, that brings me back.

The whole cityscape from the danube is incredible.

If you have any interest in reading about how I found the city, I had a few posts in my blog where I reminisced about the people I met in Budapest, and getting drunk in a huge international circle of new acquiantences in front of St. Stephens Bassilica

    lol!! that's awesome! :D

my father's parents are from Croatia too! that's why I decided to visit there... see what it was all about... it was gorgeous!!

my mom's family is German... I'll get there soon, i hope.

In the meantime, my trip to Budapest was a really great experience... visiting people that live there is really rewarding, instead of just doing the tourist thing...

thanks everyone, for checking out the pics... i'm glad you liked 'em! :D

I was rather shocked to see how beautiful Croatia is. Dubrovnic especially was pretty ravaged by the war.

I told my friends I was planning on going to Croatia in March and asked if they wanted to go....they responded with, "great, why don't we all go to bosnia too?!"

i don't think they know how beautiful it is over there!! great pics!!

Since a couple of people mentioned the war in Croatia, I though I'd add a couple of pics, showing a little bit of the damage that remains in Dubrovnik.... It is very little, and i wouldn't have known about it if I hadn't read it in my travel book.

Where mortar shells hit the Stradun (the main street in Old Town Dubrovnik):

Across the cove in this pic, you can see the remains of the Hotel Libertas, which was destroyed in the war - it is now under construction and being re-built.... my villa happened to be right next to it:

I don't, but my mom makes the best!! There is nothing better than simple peasant food and for this reason I visit my mom as often as possible...My parents are actually heading to Hungary tomorrow for a two week vacation...

brilliant pics Civ... dont they have clouds in that area of the world :D

i'm jealous actually... all i get to look at all day is castles, mountains and the house where Thomas Telford used to live ;);)
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.
