Those are awesome! You know what I was thinking... That first pic-- the gray one with the bubbles?? If you took off the bottom 2 inches or so... wouldn't that make just the BEST album cover?
I love all of them! They are so beautiful and etherial! Great Job, ScubaScott!

Thanks.
It would look good as an album cover. . . better than it does on my desktop anyway. Maybe I can use it for the cover of my debut album. 'Scott's greatest hits' featuring some pretty bad acoustic guitar playing and tuneless singing.
This is another one that I took while swimming around the mangrove roots in an estuary back home. I was completely captivated by schools of tiny fish that were hiding amongst the branches, and I got some nice upsidedown reflections on the water surface. It doesn't matter if you're male, female, or confused; black, white, brown, red, green, yellow; gay, lesbian; redneck cop, stoned; ugly; military style, doggy style; fat, rich or poor; vegetarian or cannibal; bum, hippie, virgin; famous or drunk-you're either an asshole or you're not!

Scuba... all of your pictures are stunning...
Although the picture above really frightens me... I just realized that you're in the water amongst all those branches and fish and stuff!!
Your picture really represents many of the things that scare me about natural bodies of water...
Terrifying, and beautiful at the same time!!~~*~~ ...i surfaced and all of my being was enlightend... ~~*~~0 -

Too far south for crocs in that creek, but you should be careful next time you're walking along a river bank. You never know when a half naked Australian is going to jump out of the water. . .It doesn't matter if you're male, female, or confused; black, white, brown, red, green, yellow; gay, lesbian; redneck cop, stoned; ugly; military style, doggy style; fat, rich or poor; vegetarian or cannibal; bum, hippie, virgin; famous or drunk-you're either an asshole or you're not!

It's the branches and fish and stuff that scare me...
A half naked Aussie, I can handle!!:D

It was taken at the edge of Dumaresq Dam, in Australia. The round leaves are a water lily of some sort, the other ones I don't know.
Here's something a bit different. Franz Josef Glacier, New Zealand.

Really? You're scared of the branches? Are you sure you're not afraid of what might be lurking underneath the branches? I think the unknown, unseen product of the imagination is usually much scarier than what we can actually see.
I love water, and I love being in it and under it, but sometimes dark, still, deep water, like in one of our favourite swimming holes back home can still freak me out a bit. The rational part of my brain knows that the worst thing that could possibly be down there is only an eel or two, but there's still something that makes me nervous about dangling my body down into that unknown darkness. I should dive that hole one day, and find out what's really down there. I don't even have the faintest idea how deep it is.It doesn't matter if you're male, female, or confused; black, white, brown, red, green, yellow; gay, lesbian; redneck cop, stoned; ugly; military style, doggy style; fat, rich or poor; vegetarian or cannibal; bum, hippie, virgin; famous or drunk-you're either an asshole or you're not!

I must say, I'm also freaked out about all branches and that sort off stuff that might be in the water. like, if I know that in some part of some water area there are some sea weeds or whatever, I really can't go near them!
I don't know why, they just scare the hell outta me!
and you're right about that scaryness of the unseen too.
I could easily scare myself to death but I try no to."Don't be faint-hearted, I have a solution! We shall go and commandeer some small craft, then drift at leisure until we happen upon another ideal place for our waterside supper with riparian entertainments."0 -

Hmm. Maybe the fear of branches has something to do with feeling like you're going to be dragged down into the water by them. Actually the spookiest water I ever swam in was at Catalina island. The bottom drops away very steeply, and the giant kelp fronds reach up from the darkness to the surface. With scuba gear its fine, bevause you can see the bottom and understand what's there, but snorkelling was decidely unnerving. From the surface you can just see the kelp reaching down into the depths, and your mind conjures up all kinds of images of what might be lurking down there. And then when you dive down the kelp has a terrifying habit of getting tangled around your fins. It was beautiful once I got used to it though.
That photo above with the branches and fish just feels like home to me. It reminds me of summer days and swimming, and the eucalyptus tree that you can just make out above the surface makes it feel very Australian. It doesn't matter if you're male, female, or confused; black, white, brown, red, green, yellow; gay, lesbian; redneck cop, stoned; ugly; military style, doggy style; fat, rich or poor; vegetarian or cannibal; bum, hippie, virgin; famous or drunk-you're either an asshole or you're not!

you're probably right. since I get really (I mean really) freaked out if any paln or branch of whatever touches me when I'm in the water..Scubascott wrote:Actually the spookiest water I ever swam in was at Catalina island. see, that sounds exactly like something I would never go into. never.
but I'm glad you like it.Scubascott wrote:That photo above with the branches and fish just feels like home to me. It reminds me of summer days and swimming, and the eucalyptus tree that you can just make out above the surface makes it feel very Australian.

yep! you've described it perfectly... "dangling your body into unknown darkness..." i love to swim, and i'm a good swimmer... i can look at a lake or an ocean, and think "god... i would love to go swimming...", but as soon as I get into the water to a certain point... i just panic and think GET ME OUT!!~~*~~ ...i surfaced and all of my being was enlightend... ~~*~~0 -

I think its much scarier to be floating on the surface, not knowing what's below you, than it is to be on the bottom, even at night. I guess its just fear of the unknown, like being afraid of the darkIt doesn't matter if you're male, female, or confused; black, white, brown, red, green, yellow; gay, lesbian; redneck cop, stoned; ugly; military style, doggy style; fat, rich or poor; vegetarian or cannibal; bum, hippie, virgin; famous or drunk-you're either an asshole or you're not!

I wish the edit feature hadn't been disabled on this forum. We can't fix our typos that make us look like retards.
