nice thread everyone. some great posts and portraits. i'm a fan in particular of burtschips' portraits. i think someone else asked you if you do comic book illustrations as well. hopefully you don't mind me saying so, but your drawings remind me of very well illustrated comics. really great detail! nice work!0

I'm content with it, but my one critique is my oversized eyes. I was wearing glasses while drawing, but didn't include them in the actual drawing, so they are out of proportion. Other than that, and my elongated features, it's a fair representation

here is one I did back in 2003, it is acrylics on canvas, the pic of it isn't so great, my digital camera isn't working so i took a pic of it with my web cam...

I can see the painting idea. It's very colourful. You should have a go at making a real painting of itThanks for sharing.

decides2dream wrote:well i no longer have a scanner, so i can't post any of my old drawings...besides the fact, i haven't *drawn* a self-portrait since high school. haha. anyway, my personal focus is photography in any case and although i really don't *do* too many self-portraits, i'd never post something recent in any case.
that said, i am more than willing to share a really old one, one that i did when i first started grad school. i actually quite liked it, as did my prof...and given it's age, it doesn't even really look like me anymore so i don't mind putting it out there.

btw - i am a non-smoker almost two years now.
That's an interesting photo. Thanks for sharing.

Add 12 years, (more than) 12 pounds, and glasses.... and you've got me now!

Geez, I'm jealous.
I didn't even know how to drink a bong at that age, much less drawing!
I blame my mother.... as you can tell from this drawing she refused to pass down her incredible artistic genes and only saved them for my other sister and brothers!!!

Even my three years old daughter can draw better than that. :rolleyes:JA: Why do I get the Ticketmaster question?

thanks.
I was home alone one day and decided to learn to use our digicamera.
the tough part is that it's display doesn't work (it's busted) so I knew what the pics looked like after I put them on the computer. as you can imagine, I had to delete quite a few of them.
but this is by far one of my favourites. most pics of me are too.. serious. I don't really look like myself in them..but this one I like.
