wow! thanks so much for the kind reply. we all have something creative in us....sometimes you just have to look for it. can't wait until i finish this "crazy mary" piece so i can post that too. it's going to be called "sometimes we did". my website's in my profile if you want to check out more. i do mostly stuff based on music lyrics...especially neil young...he's my main inspiration. once again, i can't thank you enough for the kind words. peace from the east coast!0

wow, i really like your moon panel!
how long did it take you to create this piece?0 -
i thought about it for a week or two, and listened to "jeremy" a FEW times - i was fine with that! once i had the image in my head, it was finished in about four days. it's on wood...so that includes cutting, sanding, and preparing the wood. it was just one of those pieces that came to me...if you know what i mean, and i had to get it out and get the image i had in my head down with paint. the only thing that slowed me down was the fact that the red and yellow were slow drying paints! it's my favourite piece i've ever done because it meant so much to the person i did it for. all he asked me to do was a painting based on "jeremy" and that it had to incorporate the idea of "arms raised in a v"...hence the title and the tree splitting so it looks like arms...one reaching for the sun...one reaching for the moon..."king jeremy ruled his world"...in other words, as he holds the sun in one hand (tree branch) and the moon in the other.
thanks for your reply gluten, and for taking a look, i appreciate it.0 -

...down a long dirt road...the old blue car we used to race...a little country store with a sign tacked to the side...0 -
i played around with this for a bit and finally learned how to post a photo of the painting in the thread, instead of just the link...here it is..."arms raised in a v"...0

ok, so i looked at your piece again. "metalic spray on pine", is this only spray paint or did you use a paint brush? i really like the yellow and red colors too.0
-
i don't normally use paint brushes, unless you count the foam kind. i use foam to paint the panels black, and to paint the trees. the only metallic spray is the sun...it's a gold metallic. the moon is actually a "dust" paint normally used to coat glass. the red and yellow are actually heavy duty rust paints..they blend well together and get really sticky, but take a long time to dry. the rest of the painting i do with rags and my hands...or whatever accomplishes what i'm going for...i've used spoons, knives, spatulas, sponges, but i rarely use a traditional paint brush. i didn't use any brushes on this piece.0

take a bottle, drink it down, pass it around...
love the sig RVM86...it's funny because i'm working on a piece right now based on the lyrics from "crazy mary"...as i posted before i'll put up a pic when it's done. i have some design plans for "black" and "indifference" too, maybe "wish list" sometime in the future. most of the stuff i do is based on song lyrics.
thanks for the compliment too! all these compliments make me want to do more work! i really appreciate it. if you want to check out more, click on my homepage in my profile, there is more there...but no others based on PJ songs yet...mostly neil young songs...or just click here...

thanks again gluten...you guys are going to give me an "inflated head"! lol again, it just encourages me to do more work...so that's a good thing!
there was another painting i wanted to put on the site that goes along with "freedom"...kind of like a "sister" or "brother" painting...it's the mirror image of "freedom" and i painted them both at the same time. they were intended to be hanged side by side - you'll notice i do a lot of "night and day" stuff...but the photo was done by someone after i sent it to them and the glare from the flash was too much to put on the site, it's kind of hard to see the trees in the lower right hand corner, but they are the same as "freedom"...but here it is...it's called "a lyric at midnight"...they are both supposed to be kind of like northern lights inspired - like i would imagine a day turning into night at the "tree line" in northern canada. i was listening to rage against the machine's "freedom" at the time and it was close to midnight as i was finishing them, hence the names and the chaotic nature of both paintings...both paintings are somewhere in calgary, alberta...0
