its true, its true
Agreed. The songs are actual whole songs. Oh, and Fits is my favorite off that record but I never hear anyone talk about it so good for you.Idaho's Premier Outdoor Writer

that record is why stone is and has been such a central figure in their song writing process. the rest of the band can hold their own for sure, its just that stone has the touch....www.cluthelee.com0

to aonswer your first question...shwag.
yea, ed's the man, yea into the wild is a borderline great record but stone sees things that nobody else in the band can see.0 -
tough one. i want to say stone, because those bayleaf songs are just so cool, but for sheer talent and greatness, I personally think ITW is superior. I told stone i loved bayleaf when i met him!Van '98, Sea I+II '00, Sea '01, Sea II '02, Van '03, Gorge, Van, Cal, Edm '05, Bos I+II, Phi I+II, DC, SF II+III, Port, Gorge I+II '06, DC, NY I+II '08, Sea I+II, Van, Ridge , LA III+IV' 09, Indy '10, Cal, Van '11, Lond, Van, Sea '13, Memphis '14, RRHOF '17, Sea I+II '18, Van I+II, Vegas I+II, Sea I+II '240

i refuse to pick between the two.... sorry- just can't do it......."I heard some people up here pointing out the ukelele...it's a mandolin, you uncultured bastards!" EV

Agreed!
Here is the thing...Bayleaf came out in 2001 (I believe) and I am STILL listening to it and one of his songs is generally on just about every playlist I make...
ITW is a soundtrack...and it's weak without the accompanying movie...I don't think I have listened to it in a few months and it didn't come out that long ago.
I hope Gossard comes out with another solo soon...I think his musical sensibility should be celebrated...IF YOU WANT A PLATE OF MY BEEF SWELLINGTON, YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE TO PAY THE COVERCHARGE.0 -
To enjoy Stonie's voice in all it's glory, find yourself a copy of Sunburn- and if you still don't enjoy it after that, than your just -s-o-l-..."I heard some people up here pointing out the ukelele...it's a mandolin, you uncultured bastards!" EV

I'm almost ashamed to admit i've never heard a thing off Bayleaf...
As for ITW...i always liked it...thought the first half was catchy and loved Hard Sun, Society and Guaranteed....over time and seeing Ed perform the songs live 4 times, i've grown to absolutely LOVE this album. Sure i wish some of the songs were a little more "fleshed out", but personally i am very excited at the prospect of Ed releasing a follow-up in the next few years....Shows: Montreal 98, Barrie 98, Montreal 00, Montreal 03, Montreal 05, Ottawa 05, Toronto 06, Vancouver Night 1 08 (EV), Vancouver Night 2 08 (EV), MSG1 08, MSG2 08, Montreal Night 2 08 (EV), Toronto Night 1 08 (EV), Toronto 09, Hartford 11 (EV), Ottawa 11, Ottawa 16, Ottawa 22.0 -
I think musicians are probably more prone to liking Bayleaf because there is a lot more music going on, not just with other instruments, but song arrangements and the technical aspects of it. I like ITW but it is really simple stuff that feels more like snippets from a musical diary rather than actual songs. I like the two covers more than anything else on there for mostly that reason, they are actual songs. The ITW stuff works well within the scope of the film for sure.Idaho's Premier Outdoor Writer

Sunburn is amazing. Stones best song solo or with a band. Period.
Having said that, ITW is a better album than Bayleaf0 -
