    I could do with a shower and some food. Too bad I have to go out to get it, at least the for the food. Remembering what Jenny told her back in highschool Anna smiled at herself. I do have a talent for one person jokes. Well Anna I can't remember the last time you smiled, but it seems like too long. Staring at the mirror as if she was waiting for an answer Anna felt better than she had in weeks. I reckon I will go outside.

    gerard and davey were silent in the car. gerard cause he wasn't the best driver and had to concentrate on the road. and davey cause he was too busy staring out the window thinking about anna.
    he doubted she had gone anywhere. she was probably holed up in her studio, drunk, covered in paint or blood or both and not giving anyone else a second thought. he also knew it wasn't beyond her to not be alone. he hated to think that he and gerard would come bounding in to 'save' her when all she was doing was living her life and screwing some guy she picked up. he sighed.

    davey unbuckled his seat belt and made a move to open to the door.

    'arlo lives down that block. i'm gonna go talk to him. i mean hell, anna could be with him for all you know gerard. i just don't want to bust in on her for no reason.'

    finding anna's door ajar didn't fill hamish with good feelings. he called her name but got no answer. he pushed it open and was confronted with such a mess that if he didn't know anna, he'd think she was the victim of a burglary. he heard the shower running. he walked up the hall.

    'hey anna!'

    still no response. steam was pouring out of the bathroom. going in, he found no anna. hamish turned off the shower and walked out. he swore to himself and for the first time dreaded entering anna's bedroom. but she wasn't there.

    As he looked for a towel to dry his coat that got somewhat wet from turning of the shower he heard the phone ring. Stumbling out of the shower still dripping he tripped on a empty wine bottle while hasting to make it to the phone. Lying on the floor he wondered why he even ran for it to begin with considering it wasn't his phone, as he lay there the answering machine said; "Anna couldn't be bothered to pick up the phone, sorry"!

    hamish sighed. but she could be bothered making a stupid message?
    the phone clicked. whoever it was on the other end of the phoneline didn't leave a message.
    picking himself up hamish reached down and took hold of the bottle. he turned it upside down and watched a piddle of red wine fall to the floor. chastising himself for being careless, he grabbed a rag and wiped up the spill.

    hamish stood up and carried the bottle into the kitchen. the sink was full of dirty dishes and uneaten food littered the bench. he dropped the bottle into the garbage.

    he looked around surveying the mess anna had created. she had a knack for destruction that's for sure. hamish picked up a small paintbrush and dipped it in a can of paint.

    where are you anna? call me. please. hamish.

    he stepped back and took in his red graffiti.

    there she's an artist. she'll appreciate that surely

    happy with himself, hamish plopped the brush into a jar of turps and left.
