lilac sidewalk

The lilacs slide, all the buttercups
ride up the side of a walk, concrete in thier balking
at mowers and riders, their two-fisted din.
Sell that shrill flower to sea. She is pretty.
She costs more than cotton on Tuesday afternoons.
Smell her, you'll love her, she'll melt in your spoon.
She wont make you babies, but she'll shoot you the moon.
