            Thanks!
I had another "gig" tonight, back in Cambridge. A sponsored beard shave, for the Marie Curie fund. I'm now completely clean shaven! I made about £200 ( about $400).
 What an amazing day!
I love you lot, you know. 0 0

A very incredible performance. I think I had heard about two or three songs from Finsbury in the past, and I must say the man has taken the troubadour and his guitar onward and upward. Richard, your voice sounds better, the guitar sounds better, the showmanship was right on...the performance in and of itself achieved a quality I can't entirely describe. Transcendental, I think. Very nicely done. I'm going to go watch and listen another time.

Just posting, to say, I'm going to get some studio time in, hopefully next week. When I do, I'll ask your honest opinions, before I stick it up on myspace.

The new VirtualGig venue is a former travel agents: you can catch me looking up in shock, half way through a bit of playing, and that's when I noticed the "British Airways: Booking Information" sign above my head!
 Thanks for tuning in!0

            Final Bow
The press made a hell of a story,
Man found lying many weeks dead
No detail was spared as too gory,
 Like his partially mummified head
And the state of his decomposition
And the way all his ulcers had burst
 And his suspect financial position
And shadowy past and a hint of a drinking man's murderous thirst
You're right in the way that you're guessing
I knew the deceased in my time
Though some of my memory's missing
I can put what I know into rhyme:
An actor with talent to die for,
A wit with a weakness for drink
A shit and a thief and a chancer and charmer
A fraudster and friend whom you'd help without stopping to think
 (Chorus:
And what would you do, for an encore, now?
What would you do, for a final bow?
What would you do, for an encore, now?
 What would you do?
 What would you do?
 What would you do?....)
Some say that his Falstaff was priceless
The best that has ever made stage
In real life hed use all of his niceness
To bluster, to fake and to cadge
When his folks kicked him out over Christmas
He lived in our house for a while
He smiled and he joked: When we laughed he dismissed us
And stole and grew vicious and flooded our home with his bile
We cleared him out once and forever
No more, he'd lie under our roof
He'd live year to year, acting clever
But lacking a good actor's truth
That to act is not just to dissemble
Nor to confidence-trick nor to dope
But to see into Man, then assemble
Unspeakable gestures of poetry, pity, connection and hope
 (Repeat chorus)
 ___
 Windowview
Each house has a window, and I know that each house has much the same view
So I know the old man at the window is telling the truth about you
 He says:
 You've lied
 You'd used
 You've stolen
 you've broken
 You're sick
 and as mad
 as his word
 He says
 You'd kill
 You'd mimic
 You'd reign
 And you'd ravage
 You're dead
 And you want me
 for food
 He says I'll see.....
 I dreamt you'd no shadow
And I dreamt that I found no lines on your hands
And I dreamt of the crows from the meadow
You'd sent to pick into my mind
 I dreamt
 You knelt
 You wept
 You beckoned
 You mastered
 You rose and laughed
 draining my blood
 I dreamt
 you changed
 you flew
 you thrived on my neighbours
As you saw them each dropping their guard
 I dreamt
 I see
 I dreamt
 I see.....
 (instrumental)
And when the old man dies
 Dare you meet my eyes?.....

 Sylvie Makes it Plain
Sylvie makes it plain that she'll break her wing
She's faced her trials alone, kept her mind through everything
And she asks me if I know
why she keeps on breaking love down
Sylvie works so hard, to keep afloat her home
But it's there she'll share her bread, for the beggars and the lame
and they ask her, as she's turning
If she'd like to keep a stable love down
 They say
"Sylvie, I can't say just where the crux lies:
Perhaps it started when you were small
You had half the hands on earth to grace your soft face
But they'd be damned if you'd ever keep still"....
 Ha......
 Sylvie makes it plain.
She says "You can never change.
You can say you'll change it all
But you only fool your soul."
Still, I ask her as she's turning,
Would she like to hold a fragile love down........?
 They say
"Sylvie, I can't say just where the crux lies:
Perhaps it started when you were small
You had half the hands on earth to grace your soft face
But they'd be damned if you'd ever keep still"....
Sylvie makes it plain that she'll break her wing
She's faced her trials alone, kept her mind through everything
And she asks me if I know
why she keeps on breaking love down

 Ninnygo
 Would you like to steal
 a self for yourself
 so you could feel real?....
 there's not enough daylight....
 I may as well sleep....
You can take what you like....
 I don't mind.
 Steal ME.
 Ninnygo nannygo nancing by,
 See me fly.
 I could be that window;
I'll be any light that you keep in your room....
 I know I'm dead now....
 I may as well live...
 Waterfall in the sun....
 There's no mind.
 Still ME?
 Ninnygo nannygo nancing by
 See me fly.
 (3)
 Whose is this body?
Nothing that made me can show who I am....
You've my brains in your body....
 I might as well copy
All that you say so I know it's my mind....
 Do you love me?

 Weights and Scales
 Spacey sits in his room
 With his stretchy-glass time
Wrapped about him like a flashback...
And he says he once had words
Till the late nights took hold
To keep him trapped along the numbtrack....
 And he says:
"All my life I've been selling my dreams
 out the backdoor
All these years I've been selling my dreams out the backdoor:
 For someone else's thrill...."
 Spacey waits through the years
 Hurling stones at the Wear
while all his old friends leave for new towns...
From Salem Hill to Low Row
He's seen them trip and them blow
To buy a necktie on their comedown...
 He says:
"Now's the time of the ghost
Of bad deals from the past
When I failed to scratch the pain out.
 If you wester too far
You end up back where you were
With no more highs to blot the shame out.
'And I can't see my mother on her sickbed...
 If she saw me she'd....
 die.....
 'And all your good times
 All your smiles
They're on my weights and scales....
I've always been for someone else:
 Someone else's thrill....
And all my life I've been selling my dreams out the backdoor
 For someone else's thrill
All these years I've been selling my dreams out the backdoor
 For someone else's thrill
All these years I've been selling my dreams out the backdoor:
 Someone else's thrill
All my life I've been selling my
 dreams out the backdoor
 For someone else's thrill
 All your good times
 All your smiles
They're on my weights and scales
I've always lived for someone else:
 Someone else's thrill.....

            Sunday Man
Sunday Man, how goes your plan?
You said you were usurper, but in truth I stepped aside.
How's your fun, now? Guess who won?
When you recover from your stupor
You'll have nothing of your pride.
You can keep on demanding the limelight:
You can keep on controlling the lead.
You can make your encores after midnight:
 But I know you're dead.
Sunday Man: Did you hear the one
 About silence, cunning, exile
and the way to win a war?
So, has it been in the space between
 my cameo appearances,
the Joy you'd thought in store?
When you took on the stage, did you feel loved?
Did you see the ghosts out in the wings?
Did you think that you once had the crowd moved?
Or were they moved by other things?
 (Instrumental break)
You can keep on demanding the limelight:
You can keep on controlling the lead.
You can make your encores after midnight
But I know you're dead dead dead.
You know you fail at all that you try to do
You know you fail at all that you try to do
You know you fail at all that you try to do
Yes, you know you fail at all that you try to do
 Sunday Man
 Sunday Man.....

Grief is Rising as a Love
 You were born
Into the sundown of my heart
But you came to me knowing a song.
 When you sang
I knew a new light, my new start
Your love brought me back into the sun.
 When you sang
Beautiful light rose again from the land.
 When you sang
Beautiful light rose again in my hand.
 ---
 When you left
I thought the sun broke in the sky
But you sang in me, never more clear:
 “We are Love,
And we are one light, we’ll not die.
Our time is so long and so near.
 ‘We will rise,
Beautiful light in new dawn after dawn.
 We will rise,
Beautiful light past the end of the sun.”
 Oh I pray
Please don’t mock me people, now
Don’t laugh at me if I cry.
 But a little bird
 loved me, and I know
Who'll come for me when I die.
