  • Hi, I have a question about posting.
Did you email me (I got an email that you did)
    or did you post me?
or did you simply just "reply" and it somehow
    automatically went to my email?
Help me here I can't figure out who
is personal or whats just a simple post...

And if you did email me your definition made me
    feel one more thing:
    that being
music is like breathing to our souls.

    I like your name.
    Good morrow to you.
  • The whole problem can be stated quite simply by asking, "Is there a meaning to music?" My answer would be, "Yes." And "Can you state in so many words what the meaning is?" My answer to that would be, "No."

"Since the one thing we can say about fundamental matter is that it is vibrating, and since all vibrations are theoretically sound. Then it is not unreasonable to suggest that the universe is music and should be perceived as such"

  • music is.....a language
  • a creative release that is given to us, sometimes music can feel like everything and then there are times when making music is not meaningful when thought is on other ones in the world who suffer being poor and starvation

mostly its a vehicle , a very important powerful vehicle that can touch the world in a huge way, obviously it wont blow up all the weapons but at this point only jesus in my opinion can do it

i keep raising my right hand and poofing out the holy spirit of jesus but people just keep on sucking
    it sucks

im sure these prayers are miracles in some way but i cant see it or understand it today, maybe tomorrow

please some child take over for a few

the belief that a single held and carried note can convey a lifetime of storied wealth; that a bevy of notes can carry the weight of a single word.

i heard a sting interview yesterday and he said this....

    "music is...it's own reward"

then he went on to talk about no matter how big or small music is, it's very powerful. whether their is an audience of 1 or 10,000.
  • Music is so subjective that no one is going to hear exactly what you hear-- and most of us hear what we plan on hearing....

i stole this one from another list i'm on ;)

In a cover story on guitarist Pat Metheny in the
December 2003 downbeat, that article closed on page 44 with a quote from Pat:

"When people make a list of what jazz must be, I try
to get as far away from those requirements as possible," Metheny says. "Jazz isn't a noun. It's a verb. It's a process, a way of being, a way of thinking. That's why I'll resist to my dying day any efforts to turn jazz into aform of music in the same way you refer to Baroque as a style. Jazz is music that demands
    change."

here's another that Dick Clark said...

"music is the soundtrack to our lives"

Music is the semiotic, the pulsion, the fluidity of communication we store in the pre-linguistic chora of the transcendent Imaginary; it bubbles and baubles and bursts diaphanous radiating waves of being beyond all forms....language cannot hold it like a vessel.... it rebels, revels, joyously, ecstatically, says the unsayable, reaches beyond and expands the outreaches of orgasm, the outreaches of universes, the beginning and end of time.....

    cassia's colorgasmic excitations

and the words that transcend are the words finding musical magical meandering patterns of meaning ecstatically yearning

    Aaron Copland (1900 - 1990)
It was a dream, not a nightmare. A beautiful dream I could never imagined in a thousand nods. I saw this girl next to me, she wasn't beautiful until she smiled. And I felt that smile come at me in heat waves following. Soaking through my body and out my finger tips in shafts of color. And I knew somewhere in the world, somewhere, that there was love for me.
