So you can't like one band because of another band you like? The Long Road wrote:Well here's another insulting reason: You still like Guns n' Roses. Music Subjectivity 101, Rule #35 states "No person shall comment on the masterpiece OK Computer if they are a fan of Axl Rose".Thanks EPOTTSIII!

Where is the love for kid A. I always thought it was considered their best by the radiohead community. My list is very close but it would go
1. Kid A
2. HTTT
3. OK C
4. IR
5. Amnesiac
6. The Bends
7. PH0 -

i'd say
1. OKC
2. Kid A
3. HTTT
musically speaking HTTT is very unappreciated in general.Athens, Greece: 2006/09/30

indeed. though i'd say kid a or okc is my favorite, httt has some amazing stuff. namely there there. that track is so great. flawless. and not to mention such solid, solid hitters as where i end... and a wolf at the door."Last time I think we played that song here was like, a long time ago, and there was a bonfire in the back and people were like throwing each other into it...very exciting days but a huge fucking relief that that's not how it is tonight..." i think what makes this album is the tracklisting... like exit music and then Let Down is just genius
Crowd: "UUUUUKKK!"
Eddie: "I see you've acknowledged the Ukulele"
Crowd: "UUUUUUUUKKKKK!!!"
Eddie: "Too bad this is a mandolin you uncultured bastards"0 -
The Long Road wrote:Played out? Maybe. Generic? You are out of your mind. Especially Android (which by the way is my bathroom break song). It's the anti-generic anthem of the 90's.
I never said anything was generic. I was speaking relatively about the albums.
What makes the Bends more generic than OkC? B/c there's lots of guitar? There is not a bad song on either album, but OkC just seems to drag for me. It's a great chill out album, and I can put it on most of the time and enjoy it, but the Bends is better paced, and more dynamic.
Electioneering may be the most out of place song in their catalog as far as I'm concerned. Not too bad a song but it should been placed better or left off.0 -
There's lots of guitar on OK Computer, anyone who thinks that it is some odd, avant-garde rock album needs to listen to more music, it's just more meticulously composed, well-written, produced, cohesive etc than The Bends. In what possible sense is The Bends "more dynamic"?DewieCox wrote:I never said anything was generic. I was speaking relatively about the albums.

There is lots of guitar, and while it has it moments to shine, it is much more a support instrument on OkC.
When OkC starts to rock it does it in a pretty mellow context compared to The Bends. I guess The Bends isn't more dynamic, just much sharper contrasts, where as OkC is slow builds and a few more subtleties.0 -
My problem with the Bends is that it has some extremely commercial songs on it that aren't terribly creative (dare I say "generic"). Radiohead fought with their record label tooth and nail over that. It would have been a lot more like OK Computer had the band had their way. Listen to the Bends b-sides for an example. Anyone who heard those b-sides should have found the transition to OK Computer much easier.0
