PRINCE
funny, he's often left off these lists. probabably because he's awesome in just about every factor that defines musical talent that people often overlook his guitar chops.
sometimes I wish I was Jack White.0 -
I think Jack White is a beast for modern players as well.
Prince, holy shit. The 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps' he did with Tom Petty and co. was one of the best solos I've ever heard, period.Believe me, when I was growin up, I thought the worst thing you could turn out to be was normal, So I say freaks in the most complementary way. Here's a song by a fellow freak - E.V0 -
in terms of talent... there's no limit. Steve Via, Kirk Hammett, Malsteem, whoever is amazing; but in terms of the music created, the two Jimmys, Hendrix #1 and Page #2, are on top.bombs, dropping down, please forgive our hometown0

Uli Roth, Jeff Beck, Ritchie Blackmore, Gary Moore, Billy Gibbons, all worth an honorable mention.
This fella is not too shabby, nice melodic style.

^^ You make a valid point in that Clapton has been fairly boring for some years now, but I am of the opinion that he is still absolutely capable of turning out blistering solos...he just chooses not toAll I have to do is revel in the everyday....then do it again tomorrow

I can remember reading where Jimi named Billy as his favorite blues player.
Favorite does not = best.0 -

It's entirely a discussion. Jimi is important in rock history, but saying he is objectively the best is just not possible.
Most influential in rock? Maybe.
Most creative? You could make a case.
Best? In terms of style, if that's your deal, you could also make a case.
Technically? Not even remotely close.Bright eyed kid: "Wow Typo Man, you're the best!"
Typo Man: "Thanks kidz, but remembir, stay in skool!"0
